ARA---------------------------Following the interim report from the judicial inquiry commission regarding the high-profile Bharat Tiwari encounter case in Bhojpur, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has announced a government job and financial assistance for a family member of the deceased. However, Bharat Tiwari's mother, Asha Devi, stated that justice remains the family's primary priority.
News of relief has emerged for the family of Bharat Tiwari regarding the well-known encounter case in Bhojpur district. Based on the judicial inquiry commission's interim report, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced that a family member of the late Bharat Tiwari would be provided with a government job and financial aid.
However, following the announcement, Bharat Tiwari's mother, Asha Devi, emphasized that justice is the most important thing for the family. She clearly stated that those involved in the incident must first be arrested and sentenced to death. Only then will the family sit together to make a decision regarding the government job and financial assistance.
It is worth noting that last Thursday, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary stated on his official 'X' (formerly Twitter) handle that the state government would provide financial assistance to the aggrieved family of the late Bharat Tiwari, based on the judicial inquiry commission's interim report. Additionally, a commitment was made to provide a government job to a family member.
Significantly, Bharat Tiwari was shot during an alleged encounter with the police in Bilauti village, under the Shahpur police station area of Bhojpur district, in June. The police claimed that Tiwari was carrying an illegal weapon and had attempted to open fire on them; he was subsequently shot during the police's retaliatory action. He died while being transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Following the incident, questions were raised regarding the police's claims in light of a Facebook Live video Tiwari had posted on social media. Family members and villagers alleged that the video showed Tiwari attempting to surrender to the police and throwing his pistol towards them.
Subsequently, the family demanded an impartial investigation and action against the guilty, alleging that it was a staged (fake) encounter. Bharat Tiwari consistently raised his voice on social media regarding issues concerning the rehabilitation of flood victims and matters involving the local administration. His family and supporters had long been demanding justice in the case.
Recognizing the gravity of the matter, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary had constituted a judicial inquiry commission headed by a retired High Court judge. Now, based on the commission's interim report, the government has announced financial assistance for the affected family and a government job for one of its members. However, the family has clarified that their primary demand remains justice in the case and action against the guilty.
