BUXAR--------------------------The 52nd Bihar State Junior Boys' Kabaddi Championship, organized under the aegis of the Bihar State Kabaddi Association, kicked off with a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday at the indoor hall of the Patliputra Sports Complex. The tournament was inaugurated by Shreyasi Singh, the Minister of Sports and Industries, Government of Bihar. The probable Bihar team for the National Junior Kabaddi Championship—scheduled to be held in Patna in November—will be selected based on this tournament.

Apurva Sukant, President of the Bihar State Kabaddi Association, presided over the inaugural ceremony, while Association Chairman Kumar Vijay Singh welcomed the guests. He stated that a total of 16 teams—comprising winners and runners-up selected from qualifying tournaments across the state's eight zones—are participating, divided into four pools.

The Buxar team made a brilliant start to the tournament by winning two consecutive matches. In the first match, Buxar defeated Madhepura 42–13, while in the second match, they beat Motihari by a wide margin of 33–9, thereby strengthening their claim for a spot in the knockout round. In the opening match, Patna ...defeated Sitamarhi 58–33, and Begusarai defeated Siwan 34–30.

Buxar team coaches Ramesh Yadav and Ranjeet Lal stated that the final match of the league stage would be played against Gaya on Wednesday morning. Following this, the knockout stage matches will take place. Buxar's consecutive victories have created an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the district's kabaddi players and sports enthusiasts.

Shashi Kumar Rai, Chairman of the Buxar District Kabaddi Association, remarked that the Buxar team has always been a medal-winning squad, attributing this success to the players' hard work and discipline. Meanwhile, Association President Shalini Kumari Devi extended her best wishes to the players and expressed hope for continued excellent performance.

Former Association Secretary and national referee Jaishankar Chaudhary noted that the Buxar team's sustained dominance at the state level is the result of years of hard work and consistent training. All eyes are now fixed on the final league match against Gaya and the subsequent knockout stage.
