BUXAR--------------------A stir was created on Saturday at the old Veer Kunwar Singh Setu in Buxar—which connects Bihar to Uttar Pradesh—when a 22-year-old man jumped into the Ganges River. Upon receiving information about the incident, police from the Buxar Golambar post arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. A large crowd gathered on the bridge after the young man jumped into the river.

According to reports, Shrikant Paswan (22), a resident of Tutwari village under the Narhi police station area, was upset with his father, Shyam Narayan Paswan, over an unspecified issue. Shyam Narayan Paswan reportedly works at a fertilizer and seed shop in Bharauli. During this time, Shrikant called his father and told him he was going to jump into the Ganges River.

Alarmed by his son's words, Shyam Narayan Paswan rushed towards the Veer Kunwar Singh Setu on his motorcycle, hoping to reason with his son and bring him home safely.

It is reported that upon reaching the bridge, the father spotted his son about 100 meters away. However, his motorcycle ran out of fuel on the way. Just as he left the bike and moved towards his son, Shrikant saw him approaching.

According to eyewitness accounts, upon seeing his father coming towards him, Shrikant allegedly jumped into the Ganges River. The sudden incident caused chaos on the bridge, and a large crowd quickly gathered at the scene.

The Buxar Golambar post police were informed of the incident. They arrived promptly and gathered details from the family and eyewitnesses.

Golambar Post In-charge Rohit Kumar stated that they received information about a young man jumping into the Ganges. A police team reached the site and began an investigation. Necessary actions are being taken to search for the young man.

A pall of gloom has descended on the young man's family following the incident. The police are investigating the matter and gathering information from the family and eyewitnesses.
