ARA-------------------------A team from the Prohibition and Excise Department arrested three young men as they disembarked from the Danapur Special (01143) train at the Sikariya railway halt, located on the Ara-Buxar rail section. During a search, a total of 72 liters of canned beer was recovered from their backpacks—with 24 liters found in the possession of each individual.
The Excise Department had received a tip-off that a consignment of liquor was being transported via the Danapur Special train. Acting on this information, a team led by Inspector Anil Kumar began monitoring the area near the Sikariya halt. As soon as the three men stepped off the train carrying their bags, the team apprehended them.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sumit Kumar (son of Sujit Chauhan, from Neura, Patna district), Manish Kumar (son of Krishna Singh, from Bihta), and Piyush Kumar (son of Dhanji Sah, from Bihta).
According to the Excise Department, the involvement of Ravi Kesari—a resident of Asani, Udwantnagar—has emerged in connection with the transport of this liquor consignment. Two of his associates managed to flee the scene; their identities have not yet been established. Following the registration of an FIR, the three arrested men have been sent to judicial custody. Efforts to locate and apprehend the absconding suspects are underway.
The Jagdishpur Excise Department team is conducting an ongoing campaign against liquor smuggling. Officer-in-charge Anil Kumar stated that raids are being carried out at various locations against those involved in the illegal liquor trade. He emphasized that no one involved in liquor smuggling will be spared, and efforts to arrest the remaining suspects are continuing.
