TWO DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED WITH BROWN SUGAR

ARA----------------------The Sikarhata police have achieved a major breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in Bhojpur district. Police arrested two smugglers traveling in an auto-rickshaw with a substance resembling brown sugar and a large amount of cash.

The arrests were made on Tuesday night during a vehicle check near Basra Rice Mill on the Nonadih-Garhani road. Police recovered 50.66 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar, ₹1,37,100 in cash, and four mobile phones from the accused. During the operation, the police also seized the auto-rickshaw, which lacked a number plate.

Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit released a press statement detailing the incident. He stated that a team from the Sikarhata police station was conducting night patrols in the area on Tuesday. During this time, vehicle checks were being carried out near Basra Rice Mill on the Nonadih-Garhani road.

While checking vehicles, the police spotted an auto-rickshaw approaching without a number plate. When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants tried to flee. Subsequently, the police, assisted by armed personnel, chased them down and apprehended both individuals.

According to the police, the occupants of the auto-rickshaw appeared suspicious, prompting a search. During the search, the contraband, cash, and mobile phones were recovered from the vehicle and the accused.

Police recovered 50.66 grams of the substance resembling brown sugar at the scene; steps are being taken to send the recovered substance for forensic testing. The cash and mobile phones have also been seized.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Chandan Kumar and Jayram Kumar, residents of Sukhi Bigha village under the Rampur Chauram police station area in Arwal district. According to the police, Chandan Kumar is the son of Nand Kumar, a resident of Sukhi Bigha village, while Jayram Kumar is identified as the son of Nagendra from the same village. The police have registered an FIR against both individuals and initiated further action.

Piro SDPO Kanhaiya Kumar stated that an auto-rickshaw was stopped and searched during a vehicle check near Basra Rice Mill. During the search, a substance resembling brown sugar and cash were recovered. During preliminary questioning, both accused informed the police that they were returning to Arwal after procuring the contraband from an individual near Basra Mor within the police station area.
