SPEEDING TRUCK RUNS OVER TWO YOUTHS, ONE KILLED

ARA----------------------A speeding truck coming from the wrong side ran over two youths riding a motorcycle on the Kayamnagar-Ara bypass within the Geedha police station area. Both sustained serious injuries in the accident. Shahzad Alam, alias Sonu Rain (36)—a resident of Ward 10, Koilwar Nagar Panchayat—died while undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, Ara. Meanwhile, doctors referred Baua Rain, a resident of Ward 6, to Patna due to his critical condition.

The incident occurred around 7:00 AM on Thursday. Both men were fruit and vegetable vendors by profession and were traveling together on a single motorcycle to the Ara wholesale market for work. As soon as they exited the Patna-Buxar four-lane National Highway and proceeded towards the Ara bypass, a truck approaching from the opposite direction ran them over. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the truck.

Locals who gathered at the site immediately rushed both injured men to Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, a wave of grief swept through the area when news of Sonu's death reached Koilwar. Family members arrived at the hospital in deep distress. His father, Naiman Rain, collapsed upon seeing his son's body, while his wife, Fatima Khatoon, clung to the body and wailed loudly.

His mother, Najma Khatoon, was also left distraught and inconsolable over her son's untimely death. Upon receiving news of the incident, Sartaj Alam—the Chief Councilor of Koilwar Nagar Panchayat—arrived at Sadar Hospital. In the presence of him and the family members, the police handed over the bodies to the relatives after the post-mortem examination.

It is reported that the two youths were traveling on a motorcycle towards the Kayamnagar-Ara bypass when a truck, coming from the wrong side, rammed into their bike. The impact was so severe that both youths fell onto the road and sustained serious injuries. Following the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The police are currently making efforts to identify and arrest him.
