51ST FOUNDATION DAY OF BHOJPUR DISTRICT CELEBRATED WITH ENTHUSIASM
Bhojpur district celebrated its 51ST foundation day at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium at Ramana Maidan on Thursday with much fanfare. The foundation day was organized by the Bhojpur district administration and elaborate arrangements were made for the purpose.

The foundation day was organized by the Bhojpur district administration and elaborate arrangements were made for the purpose. BJP MLA, Raghwendra Pratap Singh, CPI-ML MLA Sudama Prasad, Ram Kishun Singh Lohia, District Board Chairperson Asha Devi, MLC, Radha Charan Seth MLC Sanjeev Shyam Singh, Manoj Manjil, Rahul Tiwari, grace the occasion. Besides, Bhojpur DM Raj Kumar, SP Sanjay Kumar Singh, ASP, Himanshu and others were also present on the occasion.
Bhojpur District Magistrate, Raj Kumar, SP Sanjay Kumar Singh, MLAs, MLCs jointly inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial candle. They also released doves, symbol of peace and balloons in the air. The students of Dr. Nemichand Girls High School sang a welcome note and also presented Ganesh Vandana.
Addressing the gathering, DM Raj Kumar said that the Shahbad area is known as the land of Babu Kuer Singh and added people from Bihar or outside Bihar read about historical events happened in Shahabad. He said that the construction of Abdul Bari Bridge over the river Sone at Koelwar started in the year 1856 and completed in the year 1862 and it is an eye witness of the First War of Independence 1857, Buxar and Chausa battles. He further said that the old Shahabad district was divided into two districts, Bhojpur and Rohtas in the year 1972 and Bhojpur District was further divided into two halves, Bhojpur and Buxar in the year 1992. He added that all these events showed as to how people of Bhojpur district cherished their history and saved them. He said that youths had to play a vital role in development of country as they are major population and they also contributed a lot in building the nation. He advised the people to maintain eco-system and preserve water, life and greenery of the area. He exhorted the people to work for the nation irrespective of caste, creed, race and religion and maintain communal harmony.
Bhojpur SP Sanjay Kumar Singh said that people from every strata of society contributed a lot in the progress and development of the area. He said that Ara was the only town that was given status of ‘Vidrohi Shahar’ in the country during first war of Independence in the year 1857 and only Ara was freed from the yoke of Britishers for some days. People of Bhojpur contributed in every field in the country and added that Bhojpuri is the second official language in Bihar that showed as to how crazy, passionate and assertive are the people of Bhojpur. He said that people maintained communal harmony every time and so he thanked them.
Speaking on the occasion, MLAs Ram Vishun Singh Lohia, Manoj Manzil, Rahul Tiwari, MLC Radha Charan Seth and Chairperson, District Board, Asha Devi, said that Bhojpur is a historical district and famous worldwide. They highlighted achievements and appreciated the efforts of district administration with riders to implement the welfare schemes of the government in the larger interest of people.
Earlier, at least 5000 boys and girls of different schools took out a ‘prabhat pheri’ in the morning from the Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town.
A colourful cultural programme was organized in the evening and wrestling and archery competitions were also organized to mark the occasion.
Banks, DRDA, Agriculture department, district administration, Red Cross, ICDS, District Welfare Office (DWO) in the leadership of DWO Dilendra Kumar, Fire Brigade, PRD, Woamn Helpline, Disaster Management, Minor Irrigation, Electricity, Agriculture, District Animal Husbandry, District Industry, Education, Red Cross Society, Health Department, Police Deaprtment and other NGOs set up their stalls. Kabaddti, archery Kho-Kho andand painting competitions were also organized and prizes were given to the successful participants. A colourful cultural programme was organized to mark the occasion. Students of different schools and professional artists kept the audience spell bound with their performance.
