Viral Video From Badaun Mall's Sapphire Club Sparks Row, Probe Sought
RNI Badaun: A purported video from the newly opened Sapphire Club at Badaun City Mall has triggered controversy after it went viral on social media. The video allegedly shows women dancing to Bollywood songs while some attendees are seen waving currency notes. Social media users have also claimed that intoxicating substances were being consumed during the event. The authenticity of the viral video could not be independently verified.
The incident has drawn criticism online, with several users demanding an official inquiry. The club is located inside Badaun City Mall, which also houses branded retail outlets, daily-use stores and a multiplex frequented by families.
District officials said no permission has been granted for operating a night club at the premises. Meanwhile, mall owner Prateesh Gupta said the viral footage was from a private event and that any future night club operations would begin only after obtaining the required permissions.
Station House Officer Sanjay Singh said police would examine the matter and take action in accordance with the law if the video is found to be genuine, any legal violations are established, and a formal complaint is received.
