In her representation, Priyanka Sharma stated that she is unable to walk due to disability in both legs. She said that she used money provided by her mother to purchase a plot and begin construction of a house. However, after exhausting her savings and incurring a debt of around 50,000, the construction remained incomplete, leaving only a basic structure standing.

According to the petitioner, the unfinished house lacks essential facilities, including a toilet, water supply, doors and windows. Although an electricity connection has been installed, she claimed that several basic amenities are still unavailable, making the house unfit for habitation.

Sharma alleged that she had applied online for assistance under the PMAY scheme and had approached various officials on multiple occasions over the past three months. Despite repeated visits to government offices, she said no concrete assistance had been provided.

She further stated that her deteriorating financial condition has prevented her from accessing proper medical treatment. The stress of continuous follow-ups and uncertainty has also affected her physical and mental well-being.

The woman has urged the District Magistrate to either facilitate housing assistance under the government scheme or provide her with a small job so that she can support herself. She also requested that if no assistance is possible, the administration should communicate the same in writing to spare her the expense and hardship of repeated visits to government offices.

Sharma appealed to the district administration to consider her case on humanitarian grounds and extend the necessary support.

Several areas, including Blocks A and B, have witnessed stagnant water outside residential houses, turning roads and pathways into muddy quagmires and disrupting daily movement.

Local residents allege that while the Municipal Council carries out periodic cleaning of drains and sewers, the sludge and waste removed during the process are often left unattended for days. The accumulated mud outside homes becomes a major nuisance during rains, worsening sanitation and accessibility issues.

According to residents, the Municipal Council has the necessary machinery to remove sludge and waste from roads and drains. However, they claim that the available resources are not being utilized effectively to address the problem. Poor drainage maintenance has further aggravated the situation, leading to water accumulation even after moderate rainfall.

Frustrated by the persistent issue, residents have taken to social media platforms, sharing photographs and videos of the waterlogged streets and mud-covered roads. Many have criticized the Municipal Council and local administration, demanding immediate corrective measures.

Residents have urged the authorities to improve the drainage system and ensure the prompt removal of sludge after drain-cleaning operations so that people do not have to suffer during the monsoon season.

Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Avnish Rai, a special investigation team comprising Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Deputy CMO) and Nodal Officer for the Unregistered Cell, Dr. Navneet Kumar, along with Nayab Tehsildar and other health officials, conducted a surprise inspection at Mahi Health Care Centre located on the Sahaswan Road in Lalbagh.

During the inspection, officials found that the hospital was operating without valid registration and allegedly providing medical services in violation of regulatory norms. The officer narrowly escaped unhurt, while the official vehicle sustained minor damage.

According to officials, transport department teams from Bareilly and Badaun were conducting a joint checking campaign at different points along the district border to curb the movement of overloaded vehicles. Bareilly PTO Vinay Kumar was deployed near the Aonla side of the border when a truck carrying bajri and stone material approached from the Shahabad route.

Officials said the truck driver was signaled to stop for inspection, but instead of halting the vehicle, he allegedly rammed it into the PTOs car from behind and attempted to flee.

Following the incident, transport officials alerted police teams in Wazirganj, Kunwargaon, and Bisauli, leading to a coordinated blockade to intercept the truck. During the chase, the driver reportedly diverted the vehicle through several roads and even broke through a police barricade at the Bagrain reporting outpost.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shrimohan Jha said that continuous correspondence had been made with the government regarding the non-payment of salaries for the past two months. Following repeated communication from the district administration, the government on Wednesday released the required funds to address the salary crisis.

Dr. Jha informed that the pending salaries would soon be credited to the employees bank accounts. He also appealed to all staff members to continue their duties without disrupting public healthcare services in the larger public interest.

NRHM contractual employees across the district had been staging a symbolic protest from May 18 to May 20 over unpaid wages. Emergency health services, however, were not affected during the agitation. The protest was held under the support of Devdutt Sharma of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and in the presence of Contract Employees Association district president Krishna Vallabh Chaturvedi.

Meanwhile, ASHA workers also continued their protest over pending payments under the leadership of ASHA Workers Union leader Jauli Vaishya.

According to official figures, the district currently has 48 contractual doctors, around 400 staff nurses, 500 ANMs, 268 Community Health Officers (CHOs), 250 Sangini supervisors, and nearly 3,000 ASHA workers working under the NRHM framework.

RNI Budaun (RNI) In a bid to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, the health department in Budaun has intensified efforts to ensure timely identification and monitoring of high-risk pregnancies (HRP) across the district.

A training programme was held on Thursday at the Chief Medical Officers office auditorium, where 34 doctors and medical officers from block and urban areas were trained in identifying and managing high-risk pregnant women. The session was conducted by Dr Rajveer Singh, Nodal Officer of the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) programme.

Officials informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, special health check-ups for pregnant women are conducted on the 1st, 9th, 16th and 24th of every month. Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) play a key role in identifying high-risk cases, which are then referred to block and district-level health facilities for further evaluation.

Medical experts highlighted that conditions such as anaemia, high blood pressure, seizures, diabetes, height below 145 cm, weight below 35 kg, and pregnancies in women below 18 or above 35 years are categorised as high-risk. Serious cases are promptly referred to higher medical centres for advanced care.

The training programme also saw support from Shivam Soni, representative of the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR). Health officials directed all participants to ensure timely identification and proper treatment of high-risk pregnant women in their respective areas to effectively curb maternal and infant mortality.
