BUXAR-----------------------------A grand 'Kalash Yatra' (procession with ceremonial pots) was organized in Buxar district on Friday to mark the 650th birth anniversary of the revered Saint Ravidas. District Magistrate (DM) Sahila flagged off the procession from the Collectorate premises. According to the scheduled program, the procession will visit 'Mahadalit' (most marginalized Dalit) settlements across various blocks of the district.
Paying respectful tribute to Saint Ravidas on this occasion, the DM remarked that his teachings remain entirely relevant today. Through his life and philosophy, Saint Ravidas propagated messages of humanity, equality, social harmony, and brotherhood. By embracing his ideals, one can bring about positive societal change while further strengthening mutual goodwill and social unity.
She noted that Saint Ravidas championed the spirit of granting equal respect and rights to every section of society. His life inspires us to rise above discrimination and work towards human welfare and social harmony. It is the collective responsibility of all to convey his thoughts and ideals to the new generation.
The DM announced that 'Shri Guru Sant Ravidas Vikas Shivir' (development camps) would be organized every Thursday from August 27, 2026, to February 15, 2027, in all Scheduled Caste settlements across the district. During these camps, 'Vikas Mitras' (development facilitators) from the respective panchayats will provide information regarding various government public welfare schemes and achievements.
She stated that the government is implementing numerous schemes for the welfare and holistic development of society. It is the administration's priority to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach eligible individuals standing at the very last rung of the social ladder. The effective implementation of schemes will only be meaningful if eligible beneficiaries are linked to them and the actual benefits reach the grassroots level. Society, alongside the administration, plays a crucial role in this endeavor.
District-level officials—including the Assistant Collector, Additional Collector, District Welfare Officer, District Public Relations Officer, and Officer on Special Duty—as well as public representatives and personnel from various departments, were present at the event.
