BUXAR--------------------------Chaos prevailed at Buxar railway station for nearly an hour and a half on Thursday morning following the death of a passenger in the general coach of the Dibrugarh-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express. The train was halted at platform number one, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. Meanwhile, the Magadh Express, en route from New Delhi to Islampur, was routed via platform number three.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Mithun Das, a resident of Barsoi in West Bengal. He was returning home from Mumbai with his cousin, Ranjit Das. According to family members, Mithun’s health suddenly deteriorated during the journey, and he passed away due to a fever.

Reports indicate that upon learning of the passenger's death, the train guard stopped the train at Buxar station. The guard was unwilling to proceed with the body on board, whereas the family members did not want to offload the body at Buxar. They argued that offloading the body at Buxar would necessitate a post-mortem and other formalities there, causing them financial hardship. This disagreement led to a commotion involving passengers and the family members at the station.

Upon receiving news of the disturbance, Station Master Saxena and RPF Inspector Kundan Kumar arrived at the scene with a police force; the station's medical officer was also present. Officials briefed their superiors on the situation, and after prolonged discussions, a consensus was reached to transport the body further along with the train. Subsequently, the Dibrugarh-LTT Express was allowed to depart.

Meanwhile, the 'Up' line was affected due to the train remaining stationary at Buxar station. Consequently, the Magadh Express, traveling from New Delhi to Islampur, was routed via platform number three. Some passengers aboard the Dibrugarh-LTT Express disembarked and boarded the Magadh Express to continue their journey. Passengers alleged that Mithun Das had passed away near Prayagraj, but the train had to be halted at Buxar due to the lack of timely and appropriate action. However, RPF Inspector Kundan Kumar stated that the situation was brought under control and alternative arrangements were made for the passengers' convenience. The matter is being investigated at the railway level.
