BUXAR------------------------The havoc caused by speeding was witnessed on the four-lane highway near the underpass on Saturday. An e-rickshaw driver died a tragic death on the spot after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was badly damaged, and the driver became trapped against the steering wheel.

Chaos ensued at the scene for a while following the accident. The deceased has been identified as Shribhagwan Baheliya, a resident of Dumraon and son of Shivnarayan Baheliya; he supported his family by driving the e-rickshaw. According to locals, he was traveling from the southern end of the Purana Bhojpur underpass towards Maharaja Kothi on Saturday. It is reported that he entered the four-lane highway from the wrong side via the service lane. At that moment, a speeding unidentified vehicle rammed into the e-rickshaw.

Eyewitnesses stated that the front of the e-rickshaw was mangled upon impact, trapping the driver inside.

It is suspected that a heavy vehicle or a trailer may have been involved in the accident. However, the exact cause of the crash and the identity of the offending vehicle will only be confirmed after a police investigation. Upon receiving the information, In-charge SDPO Sameer Kumar Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) Chandan Kumar, the Dial-112 team, and NHAI officials arrived at the scene. After considerable effort, the driver's body was extricated from the wrecked e-rickshaw and sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have initiated a search for the unidentified vehicle and its driver. Station House Officer Chandan Kumar stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken based on the application submitted by the deceased's family members.
