CJP Stresses Non-Violence, Calls for Delhi Protest on October 10 Over Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation

New Delhi. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday stressed that its proposed protest in Delhi on October 10 would remain peaceful and non-violent. The organisation has urged citizens who support free and fair elections to join the demonstration at Jantar Mantar if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign.

The CJP has been demanding Kumar’s resignation, alleging irregularities in electoral processes and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. These are allegations made by the organisation.

In a statement issued on Saturday, CJP founder and convener Abhijeet Dipke said citizens and members of the movement from across the country would gather in New Delhi and hold a mass protest at Jantar Mantar if Kumar does not step down.

Dipke said that if the Delhi Police attempts to stop the protesters, the movement would continue from wherever they are stopped. He stressed that the protest would remain peaceful and said the organisation would follow the path of non-violence shown by Mahatma Gandhi.

According to the CJP statement, the October 10 protest would strictly follow a non-violent approach and draw inspiration from historic civil disobedience movements to raise concerns about public faith in democratic institutions.

“This is a fight to save our democracy,” Dipke said, appealing to citizens seeking free and fair elections to join the protest.

The announcement came a day after the CJP held a protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday. A large number of people participated in the demonstration despite police restrictions, demanding Kumar’s resignation. The Mumbai protest also saw calls for a fresh agitation in Delhi if Kumar did not step down.
