HYDERABAD NOV 24 (RNI) The Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) inaugurated Audit Week 2025 Hyderabad on Monday at the Accountants General Office Complex.

Senior officers, staff members and invited dignitaries attended the event, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration of professional excellence, institutional learning and collaborative engagement.

Dr. C. Suvarna, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) & Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Government of Telangana, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. C. Suvarna highlighted the significance of observing Audit Diwas as a national reminder of the crucial role of independent audit in strengthening democratic governance. She emphasised the importance of performance and field audits in ensuring meaningful utilisation of public expenditure for development outcomes.

Dr. Suvarna appreciated the contributions of IA&AD’s international institutions such as ICED and ICISA in strengthening professional competence within the audit ecosystem. She reiterated the values of professionalism, integrity and objectivity, noting that IA&AD has evolved into a robust repository of institutional knowledge. She also acknowledged the growing global credibility of the CAG of India through active engagement with INTOSAI and other international platforms.

In her welcome remarks, Chanda Pandit, Principal Accountant General (A&E), Telangana, referred to the recently concluded AGs’ Conference in which over 100 Accountants General and Heads of Department from across the country deliberated on the theme — “Leading Change & Reaffirming Values Trust, Innovation, Sustainability, Accountability.” She noted that the conference set a forward-looking agenda for public audit with a strong emphasis on data integration, AI-driven analytics and sustainability-focused approaches.

One of the key initiatives highlighted during the event was the development of the CAG-LLM, an indigenously built Large Language Model designed to support automation, predictive insights, anomaly detection and risk-based assessments.

The model is expected to significantly enhance audit precision and outcome quality by leveraging advanced analytics and data synergies.

The event also announced a major institutional milestone — the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Financial Audit (CoEFA) at Hyderabad under the National Academy of Audit and Accounts ecosystem. Designed as an incubator of global best practices, research and training in financial auditing, the Centre is scheduled for a soft launch on 26 November 2025, and is expected to evolve as a national and international benchmark for high-quality audit practice.

Senior offices of the Accountant General (Audit), Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement), Director General of Audit (Central), Principal Director of Audit (Commercial) and Director General of Audit (Railways, Secunderabad), in Hyderabad and across India, will organise a series of activities including technical workshops, stakeholder interactions, quizzes, cultural programmes and outreach events.
