HYDERABAD JULY 15 (RNI) Hyderabad Runners Society, in partnership with NMDC Ltd., IDFC FIRST Bank and the Government of Telangana, today announced the 15th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon Powered by IDFC FIRST Bank, scheduled to be held on August 29 and 30, 2026.

Recognised as Indias second-largest marathon and a World Athletics Label Race, this landmark edition is expected to attract over 32,000 participants across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K categories, bringing together elite international athletes, Indias leading distance runners and thousands of fitness enthusiasts.

Over the last fifteen years, the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon has evolved into much more than a sporting event. It has become a movement that inspires healthier lifestyles, encourages community participation and promotes running as a preferred fitness activity.

HYDERABAD JULY 1 (RNI) A complex facial reconstructive surgery performed by Plastic Surgeon Dr. BRN Padmini has helped transform the life of a 10-year-old boy living with facial infiltrating lipomatosis, an ultra-rare congenital condition in which mature fatty tissue infiltrates surrounding muscles, soft tissue, and sometimes underlying bone, leading to progressive facial asymmetry and functional impairment. The disorder is widely described in medical literature as rare to very rare, and available rare-disease references classify congenital infiltrating lipomatosis of the face as affecting fewer than 1 in 1,000,000 people worldwide.

This condition is distinctly different from a routine lipoma. Unlike common benign lipomas that are usually localized, and well circumscribed, facial infiltrating lipomatosis is non-encapsulated, invades adjacent tissues, may be associated with bony overgrowth, and is known for a substantial risk of regrowth after surgery.

A long search for answers

The childs medical journey began when his parents noticed an unusual swelling in the chin region at the age of three. An earlier surgery performed elsewhere when he was five did not stop the lesion from progressing, and the underlying diagnosis remained unclear.

Over time, the enlarging mass contributed to incomplete lip seal, persistent drooling, speech difficulty, and visible facial deformity. The physical changes also exposed the child to bullying, social distress, and loss of confidence during crucial school years.

Diagnosis of an ultra-rare disorder

When the family later consulted Dr. BRN Padmini - Sr. Consultant, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (STAR Hospital Nanakramguda), the case was reassessed in detail and identified as facial infiltrating lipomatosis, a rare craniofacial disorder first described in 1983 and recognized for causing unilateral facial overgrowth, soft-tissue enlargement, and skeletal asymmetry. Published reports note that this condition often presents early in life and can involve facial asymmetry from childhood, with progressive enlargement over time.

This is not a typical lipoma, said Dr. BRN Padmini - Sr. Consultant, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (STAR Hospital Nanakramguda). It is benign, but it behaves in a locally aggressive way by infiltrating normal facial structures. Surgery demands careful planning because the goal is not only to remove abnormal tissue, but also to protect facial nerves, preserve muscle function, and improve symmetry and oral competence.

A demanding surgical challenge

Facial infiltrating lipomatosis is considered medically challenging because complete excision is often difficult, recurrence is well recognized, and long-term follow-up is usually necessary. A published head-and-neck review described infiltrating lipoma in the facial region as extremely rare, while other reports emphasize that even after surgery, regrowth can occur because the lesion infiltrates normal tissue planes rather than remaining confined in a capsule.

The child is now recovering well after surgery, with improvement in facial form and essential oral function. Although long-term monitoring remains important because these lesions may continue to grow or require future corrective procedures, the surgery has meaningfully interrupted the progression of deformity and improved the boys quality of life.

The case is notable not only because of its surgical complexity, but also because of the rarity of the diagnosis. Medical publications on this condition are dominated by isolated case reports and small series rather than large population studies, and no robust India-specific prevalence estimate appears to be available in the published sources reviewed. That makes each well-documented clinical case important for awareness, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary management.

Why this case matters

Rare craniofacial conditions such as facial infiltrating lipomatosis are often misunderstood or initially misdiagnosed, especially because they may resemble more common benign swellings in early stages. Timely recognition, imaging, surgical planning, and long-term review are essential to reduce functional problems, psychosocial burden, and repeat interventions.

This case highlights the value of specialist evaluation in rare facial disorders and the impact that accurate diagnosis and carefully executed reconstruction can have on a childs appearance, confidence, speech-related function, and day-to-day life.

HYDERABAD JUNE 26 (RNI) Manufacturing in the future will not be driven by machines alone; it will be driven by intelligence. It no longer matters how many machines are installed on the factory floor. What matters is how efficiently they operate, how well they communicate with each other, how much energy they conserve, and how smart they are," said Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, while inaugurating the 3rd edition of IITEX 2026 Industrial Innovation & Technology Expo at the Hitex Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, on Friday.

The three-day expo, organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), showcases Telangana's industrial strength, innovation, manufacturing excellence, industrial automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, smart factories and other emerging technologies.

The Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the expo in the presence of R. Ravi Kumar, President, FTCCI; K.K. Maheshwari, Vice President, FTCCI; Srinivas Garimella, FTCCI leadership; C.S.S. Rao, Joint Director, MSME Development & Facilitation Office; K. "All electric vehicles enjoy 100% exemption from road tax. Telangana has already crossed 5 GW of installed solar power capacity and aims to reach 34 GW by 2035, making the State a leader in reliable, affordable and green energy," he added.

The event brought together para-athletes, beneficiaries, philanthropists, government representatives, supporters, and members of the community to celebrate excellence in para-sports and reaffirm the collective commitment towards empowering persons with disabilities through sports and rehabilitation.

The dignitaries on the K. E. Shyam Kumar, MLA, Pattikonda (Andhra Pradesh) Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, HMDA, Anjana Sinha, IPS (Retd.), Former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh and Trustee, Aditya Mehta Foundation, Dr. A. A key highlight of the event was the Foundation extending support worth 3.46 Crore to para-athletes across India. Of this, 1.78 Crore was provided towards participation in national and international competitions, including support to the Indian Para Cycling Team, Indian Para Shooting Team, and other promising para-athletes preparing for major international events.

In addition, adaptive sports equipment, customized prosthetic limbs, bicycles, hand cycles, training aids, and other assistive devices valued at 1.68 Crore were distributed to para-athletes from various states, enabling them to pursue high-performance training and competitive excellence.

The Foundation also felicitated a distinguished group of para-athletes for their exceptional contributions and achievements in international para-sports. Among those honoured were Arshad Shaik, India's first male para-cyclist to represent the nation at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024; Lisha Das and Vishva Vasani for their outstanding achievements in para-cycling; H. U. Shivani and Jyoti for their accomplishments in para-athletics; and Prashant for his achievements in hand cycling at the international level.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla lauded the efforts of the Aditya Mehta Foundation in creating opportunities for persons with disabilities and emphasized the importance of inclusive infrastructure, quality training, rehabilitation services, and equal opportunities for all. He also appreciated the Foundation's continued efforts in nurturing para-athletes and supporting their participation in national and international competitions. Speaking on the occasion, he said, These athletes are exceptionally talented, and their potential has been further honed by the Aditya Mehta Foundation. The Foundation has identified raw talent and trained these individuals into international-level athletes. They are a pride to the nation and have brought honour to the country through their outstanding performances. Our Prime Minister takes a special interest in the progress of our athletes and constantly encourages them to excel. Such encouragement from the Prime Minister inspires them to go beyond their limits and bring glory to the nation. In consultation with the Chief Minister, we will ensure support for these athletes. I request the Aditya Mehta Foundation to share a proposal; I will recommend it to the Chief Minister and the Central Government so that these athletes can focus on excelling in their respective sports. I also appreciate the companies that come forward to support sportspersons through their CSR funds.

Jayesh Ranjan said, AMFs work is commendable, and awareness of its excellent initiatives is spreading, with para-athletes from across the country coming here for training. This year is particularly significant as we have two major international events, the Asian Games in Japan and the Commonwealth Games in Ireland, and our expectations from our athletes are high. Let us encourage our para-athletes to give their best at these tournaments. We are also in discussions with AMF about establishing a modern para-sports academy at the 200-acre sports campus in Hakimpet.

Anjana Sinha said, I came to know Aditya Mehta during my tenure in the CISF, when he was extending free support to CAPF personnel injured in the line of duty. Witnessing his dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities left me with deep admiration and inspired me to continue supporting the Aditya Mehta Foundation. Today, the Foundation takes pride in having nurtured many athletes who have earned international recognition and accolades. Aditya and his team have worked tirelessly to empower every athlete associated with the Foundation to excel and emerge as world-class para-sportspersons. I request the Honble Governor, the Principal Secretary to the Government of Telangana, and the Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Telangana to extend their support to this Foundation and help turn its vision into reality.

HYDERABAD APRIL 17 (RNI) FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Hyderabad, under the leadership of Chairperson Seetha Reddy, hosted Unscripted: Life, Legacy & Reinvention at ITC Kohenur on Friday evening, bringing together acclaimed actor Neena Gupta and celebrated designer-entrepreneur Masaba Gupta for an engaging and candid conversation on resilience, reinvention, and individuality.

Delivering her welcome address, Seetha Reddy said: As we step into this milestone 25th year of FLO Hyderabad, it is a moment of both reflection and renewed purpose. Unscripted is not just a conversationit is a reminder that every womans journey is unique, evolving, and powerful. Through platforms like these, we hope to inspire women to embrace their own narratives with confidence, to step forward, be heard, and lead. Because real change happens when every voice mattersand when every voice rises together.

She further added, This is truly a defining moment for all of us as women. I would also like to acknowledge the importance of the Womens Reservation Bill. The mother-daughter duo was in conversation with Seetha Reddy. Opening the session, Masaba Gupta reflected on carving her own path, saying that while being the daughter of accomplished parents could have been pressurising in fields like sports or acting, she never felt that burden in fashion. I experienced it as a positive pressure, she noted.

Neena Gupta, in her candid and characteristic style, shared her life philosophy:
Kaam maangne mein sharam nahi honi chahiye (one should never hesitate to seek work), but paise maangne mein sharam honi chahiye (one must be mindful when asking for money). Work is worship. If you work hard, there is no time for depression. No work is small. If you are educated and willing to work, you will never go hungry.

She further added, There is no point in being shy. Sell your expertise. Be honest with yourself, but you dont need to display everything outwardly. Make the most of what you have.

Reflecting on her career, Neena Gupta shared that she experienced true success at the age of 60 with her role in Badhaai Ho. That film brought me recognition and renewed appreciation. Suddenly, I was seen differently. Success changes perceptions, she said with her trademark humour, adding that she became more selective with roles after that phase.

Masaba Gupta, speaking about entrepreneurship, highlighted the importance of instinct and decision-making. If I had learned to say no earlier, I might have been a better entrepreneur. Its difficult, but necessary. I am not driven by trends or the marketI follow my gut and aim to set trends, she said.

She also shared a lighter personal note: For my mother and me, jewellery shopping is therapeuticits a joyful space. She added that both jewellery and beauty ventures are extensions of her creative expression.

Addressing the realities of entrepreneurship, Masaba noted, The founders journey is inherently lonely. Decision-making is often solitary. But success or failure is never finalwhat matters is to keep going and not give up.

On financial prudence, Neena Gupta remarked, I am an FD (Fixed Deposit) person. I have always taken a cautious approach to money. Whether in failure or success, I never had the luxury of dwelling in depression.

In her closing message, Neena encouraged the audience to pursue passion: Have a shauk (deep desire), and you can achieve anything.

Masaba concluded with a practical insight: In life, you dont always get what you deserveyou get what you negotiate.

Currently serving as an "Assistant Director in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, a position she secured through her UPSC 2023 performance, Laxmis journey is a powerful testament to resilience. The product launch was held in the presence of Chef Sanjay Thumma, Mr Avnish Kumar (Chairman, Retailers Association of India), Mr Aditya Bansal (Director, Sree Sai Roller Flour Mills), Dr V. The newly launched atta is designed to bridge the gap between traditional diets and modern nutritional needs. It delivers up to 50% higher protein than regular wheat flour, with just three rotis providing nearly one-third of an adults daily protein requirement.

It combines premium Sharbati wheat with soy, maize, and chana, enriched further with plant-based protein isolates and essential micronutrients such as Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Zinc, and Vitamin A, helping combat hidden hunger and boost immunity.

Speaking on the occasion, Shriya Saran highlighted the importance of mindful eating, stating that evolving food habits have led to nutritional gaps. She emphasised that fortified foods can significantly help address deficiencies and improve overall health outcomes.

A technical workshop on wheat flour fortification was conducted alongside the launch.

Dr V. Sesikeran emphasised that food fortification is a scalable and sustainable strategy for addressing micronutrient deficiencies, particularly when incorporated into staple foods such as wheat flour. He further noted that such fortification helps reduce the disease burden, thereby easing the economic strain on the country.

Amrutha Sri from the Food Safety Department, Telangana, explained the regulatory framework and highlighted the role of FSSAI in ensuring food safety and promoting fortification standards. She urged the industry to actively support initiatives like the Eat Right India Movement, Clean Street Food Hub, Food Safety Training and Certification.

Experts stressed the urgent need for fortification, citing alarming statistics on anaemia and micronutrient deficiencies across India. Women and children remain particularly vulnerable, underscoring the importance of interventions like fortified staple foods.

Dr Prabha Agrawal emphasised that fortified staples can help bridge nutritional gaps in women, especially during pregnancy, offering a practical alternative to supplements.

A panel discussion titled Powering Nutrition Security and Driving Consumer Demand for Fortified Wheat Flour brought together experts from industry, healthcare, and policy.

The moderator highlighted that food fortification in India is promoted by FSSAI through initiatives like the +F logo, and has evolved from salt iodisation programs to large-scale integration into schemes like Mid-Day Meal and PDS.

HYDERABAD FEB 26 (RNI) The Telangana Rifle Association (TRA) concluded the 1st Sports Shooting Leadership Conclave 2026, marking a historic milestone as the first initiative of its kind in India. The prestigious conclave was held at the TRA Registered Office, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

The landmark event brought together eminent policymakers, senior IPS and civil service officers, sports administrators, and representatives from various government departments and sports bodies to deliberate on a comprehensive roadmap for the growth of shooting sports in Telangana and across India. Discussions centered on grassroots development, infrastructure enhancement, scientific training methodologies, and alignment with national and international standards.

The conclave was graced by distinguished dignitaries including  Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), Amit Sanghi, President, Telangana Rifle Association & Senior Vice President, NRAI,  Dr. M. Ramesh, I.P.S., Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, Harichandana Dasari, District Collector, HyderabaD, A. P. Sanghi also spoke about the proposed Shooting Premier League to enhance visibility and sponsorship opportunities, regular NRAI-supported training camps, and the launch of TriggerPoint, a digital magazine aimed at promoting a culture of continuous learning. He further informed about the development of the TRA website and mobile application to ensure transparency and simplify processes for athletes.

Emphasizing infrastructure, he underlined the need to upgrade the Gachibowli shooting range to international standards. He also highlighted the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in training to provide data-driven performance insights, clarifying that AI would complement and support coaches and athletes.

He concluded by calling for collective efforts from TRA, NRAI, government authorities, coaches, parents, and athletes to position Telangana as one of Indias leading shooting states.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo congratulated TRA for organizing the conclave and encouraged similar initiatives across other states. He emphasized infrastructure upgradation, scientific coaching systems, and AI-driven performance analysis.

HYDERABAD FEB 9 (RNI) PANIIT will support the India AI Impact Summit 2026, a flagship global gathering to be hosted by the Government of India under the India-AI Mission in February 2026, announced Prabhat Kumar, IRS, Chairman, PANIIT Alumni India, at a press conference held on Monday at Taj Deccan. KOLKATA FEB 3 (RNI) The Kolkata International Book Fair concluded today, February 3, marking the end of a 12-day literary and cultural event. On the final day, Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) Book Stall No. 264 witnessed a significant presence of devotees and spiritual seekers, reflecting the growing interest in the teachings of Gurudev Paramahansa Yogananda.

HYDERABAD JAN 29 (RNI)Wings India 2026, Indias most prestigious and Asias largest civil aviation event, witnessed a series of transformative announcements on its second day at the Begumpet, underscoring Indias rapid emergence as a global aviation hub spanning manufacturing, connectivity, sustainability, and human capital development.

The major Industry announcements made were as follows 

Air India announced an additional order of 30 fuel-efficient narrowbody aircrafts from Boeing, taking its total aircraft order book to 600 aircraft, one of the largest globally. In a significant move to enhance operational resilience, Air India also signed a multi-year agreement with Boeing Global Services for its Component Services Program, covering the airlines entire Boeing 787 fleet, including aircraft on order.

These strategic initiatives further reinforce Air Indias long-term fleet modernisation and aviation ecosystem-building vision.

Air India and Airbus signed an agreement to convert 15 A321neo aircraft orders into the advanced A321XLR variant. The A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft will enable Air India to launch new non-stop international routes, strengthening Indias global air connectivity while leveraging superior fuel efficiency and extended range.

Sakthi Group and Omnipol signed a Memorandum of Understanding to introduce the globally proven L410 NG 19-seater aircraft in India.

The agreement includes assessment of modalities for establishing a Final Assembly Line (FAL) in India, marking a significant step towards strengthening indigenous aircraft manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) executed a contract with Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) for the supply of 10 Dhruv Next Generation (NG) helicopters. The agreement marks a major milestone for Indias civil helicopter sector, demonstrating growing confidence in indigenously developed aviation platforms and supporting their wider domestic and international adoption.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a key agreement with Airports Council International (ACI) for the Airports Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP).

Over the next five years, AAI will train more than 115 aviation professionals, creating a globally deployable leadership talent pool and positioning India as a trusted leader in global airport management.

The KPMGFICCI knowledge report, Paving the Future of Aviation in Viksit Bharat @ 2047, was formally released. The report highlights Indias aviation sector as a key driver of economic growth, trade, tourism, and employment, and presents a roadmap for India to transition from being one of the worlds largest aviation markets to a global aviation ecosystem leader. It outlines nine strategic themes to convert Indias scale into sustained global competitiveness.

In his keynote addressing Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, highlighted Indias unprecedented aviation growth under the visionary leadership of Honble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that India is firmly positioned on a path to becoming an integrated, globally influential aviation ecosystemfrom design and manufacturing to maintenance, innovation, and sustainability.

Emphasising inclusivity, capacity creation ahead of demand, skill development, sustainability through Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) adoption, and collaborative global growth, the Minister described Wings India as a statement of confidence, capability and commitment to collective flight.

The Hindustan Group stall at the event was inaugurated by B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Honble Minister for Roads & Buildings, Infrastructure and Investments, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The MoU aims to launch an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Cadet Programme focused on building a pipeline of licensed aircraft maintenance professionals.

Under the agreement, HIET, a DGCA CAR 147 (Basic) approved institute will deliver structured training for Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) and Category B2 (Avionics) engineers selected by Air India. The programme is designed to support the airlines growing requirement for licensed aircraft maintenance engineers amid rapid fleet expansion and operational scale-up.

The partnership brings together Air Indias operational expertise and HIETs regulatory-approved training infrastructure, ensuring industry-aligned curriculum delivery, standardised selection processes, and practical exposure aligned with airline maintenance requirements.

The MoU was announced during HGIs strong participation at Wings India 2026, where the Group showcased its expanding footprint across pilot training, aircraft maintenance engineering, and aviation education.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman, Hindustan Group of Institutions, said, Wings India 2026 provided an important platform to demonstrate how education and industry can work together to support Indias aviation growth. Planned additions include next-generation aircraft such as the Tecnam P2010 and Piper Archer DX, supporting both ab-initio and advanced pilot training with modern avionics and enhanced safety systems.

OFAA also outlined its advanced training infrastructure through detailed interactions and video presentations, including ALSIM AL250 flight simulators for single-engine and multi-engine operations, which enable DGCA-approved, weather-independent training. The team also shared insights on aircraft models and student-led drone projects, highlighting the Groups focus on innovation and future-ready aviation technologies.

Alongside HIET and OFAA, other institutions from the Hindustan Groupincluding Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), KCG College of Technology, and Hindustan College, Mysurupresented their academic programmes in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, Defence Technology, and allied disciplines, reinforcing HGIs position as a comprehensive, end-to-end aviation education ecosystem.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of Wings India 2026, held in Hyderabad, in the presence of Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and CEO, FLY91, Chenna Reddy, COO, FLY91, and Amitav Chaudhuri and Girish Mudgal, Co-Founders and Directors, Timetooth Technologies and senior officials from the DGCA.

The partnership establishes a framework for the joint development of customised seating solutions tailored to FLY91's operational and cabin requirements, while advancing the Government of India's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives within the aviation manufacturing ecosystem. Under the proposed collaboration, Timetooth Technologies will lead the technical design, prototyping, testing and certification of passenger seats customised for FLY91's ATR 72-600 aircraft. The scope of the MoU also includes regulatory certification support to meet DGCA and applicable international airworthiness standards, exploration of lightweight materials and smart seat features to reduce fuel consumption and enhance passenger comfort, and potential collaboration on long-term maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support for the seating systems.

FLY91 will provide operational inputs, cabin layout specifications and aesthetic guidelines, and facilitate aircraft access for fitment trials and engineering assessments. The airline will evaluate the developed seating systems for potential fleet-wide integration, while both parties will jointly engage with aircraft OEMs to secure necessary approvals related to cabin fitment and configuration.
