ASSESSMENT OF WATER CONSERVATION WORKS

ARA------------------------Physical verification of 1% of water conservation structures uploaded to the JSJB portal under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan; inspections carried out across five blocks.

"Schemes are moving from paper to ground-level assessment." In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, a field verification of 1% of water conservation works uploaded to the *Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari* (JSJB) portal under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) was initiated in Bhojpur district. As part of this process, on Wednesday, on-site inspections were conducted to physically verify the actual status of water conservation structures built in the Piro, Tarari, Sandesh, Sahar, and Charpokhari blocks.

During the inspection, various water conservation structures—including soak pits, canals, *pains* (traditional water channels), and ponds—were closely examined, and the details uploaded to the portal were cross-checked against the structures present at the sites. The objective of this process is to ensure the quality, transparency, and effectiveness of the schemes.

The inspection was attended by Md. Shakeel Ahmed (Central Nodal Officer-cum-Assistant Engineer, Central Water Commission, Patna), Mr. Amit Kumar (District Nodal Officer/DNO, *Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari*, Bhojpur), Mr. Vijay Kumar (Young Professional, *Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali* Mission, Bhojpur), Block Programme Officers (MGNREGA) from the respective blocks, and other concerned officials.

Officials stated that the purpose of the field verification is to assess the actual progress of water conservation schemes, ensure the authenticity of data uploaded to the portal, and provide accurate and reliable data for future planning. This campaign represents a significant initiative towards transforming water conservation into a mass movement and promoting rainwater harvesting.
