BUXAR------------------------Buxar police have taken three prime accused in the Ahiyapur triple murder case—former zila parishad vice-chairman Santosh Yadav, former mukhiya Manoj Yadav, and Bateshwar Yadav—on a four-day court-ordered remand for intensive questioning, with a focus on recovering weapons used in the brutal May 24 slayings.

On June 1, 2025, Santosh Yadav, Manoj Yadav, and Bateshwar Yadav surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Dwivesh Kumar’s court in Buxar’s Vyavahar Nyayalaya, facilitated by advocate Dheeraj Kumar Thakur. Following their surrender, Buxar police sought and secured a four-day remand to interrogate the trio, confirmed Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya. “After their surrender, we applied for remand, which the court granted. The accused are being questioned,” Arya said. Police sources indicate a detailed list of questions has been prepared, with the primary focus on tracing the firearms used in the crime, though the interrogation location remains undisclosed.

The gruesome incident unfolded on May 24 morning in Ahiyapur village under Rajpur police station, driven by electoral rivalry and a battle for dominance. Manoj Yadav, Santosh Yadav, and their accomplices allegedly ambushed victims near a canal bridge, riddling them with bullets. The attack claimed the lives of Birendra Singh, Sunil Singh, and Vinod Singh, all Ahiyapur residents. Two others, Amit alias Mantu Yadav and Pujan Singh alias Punj, were gravely injured and treated at a Varanasi hospital, with one requiring leg amputation. Ajit Kumar Singh, son of victim Birendra Singh, lodged an FIR against 19 named individuals, including Santosh Yadav, Manoj Yadav, and Bateshwar Yadav, along with three unidentified persons.

Police are prioritizing the recovery of the weapons, a critical lead in unraveling the case. The Ahiyapur killings, marked by brazen violence, have sparked outrage and heightened tensions in Buxar, underscoring the need for swift justice.
