ARA--------------------------An armed miscreant shot a young man following a minor dispute near a Puja pandal at Bhelai Bridge, within the jurisdiction of the Udwantnagar police station, on Monday night. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to a finger on his right hand. His family had him treated at Sadar Hospital. The incident has caused a stir in the surrounding area. Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene and have begun an investigation.

According to reports, the injured youth is 24-year-old Deepu Singh, son of Ajay Singh, a resident of Jagdev Nagar (Lane No. 7) under the Nawada police station area. Regarding the incident, it is stated that on Monday night, he was sitting with friends near the Puja pandal at Bhelai Bridge in Bhelai village. Suddenly, an armed miscreant arrived on a motorcycle and shot him, causing the injury.

Based on the statement given by the injured Deepu Singh, a named FIR has been registered against Laddu Kumar, a resident of Bhelai village (Udwantnagar police station area). In his statement, he mentioned that around 10:30 PM on October 12, he had gone to meet his friend Kunal Kumar—son of Ranjeet Singh of Bhelai village—upon Kunal's invitation, and was sitting with him near the Durga Puja pandal at Bhelai Bridge.

At that moment, Laddu Kumar, a resident of the same village, arrived and—citing a past dispute—fired a pistol at Deepu's head. Deepu ducked, and the bullet struck a finger on his right hand instead. The assailant then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Udwantnagar Station House Officer (SHO) Jayant Prakash stated that the accused and the victim are friends, and the case appears suspicious based on the preliminary investigation. The matter is currently being investigated. He also noted that the injured youth has a prior criminal history. He has been named as an accused in three cases registered at the Nawada police station—including charges of attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act—and has previously served time in jail.
