ARA----------------------------Former RJD MLA from Shahpur, Rahul Tiwari, has questioned the announcement made by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary regarding the provision of a job to the family of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari—a resident of Bilauti village who was killed in a police encounter. Terming the Chief Minister's announcement a "job-for-a-deal" arrangement, he stated that the government should formulate a uniform policy for all such aggrieved families.

The former MLA urged the Chief Minister to introduce a bill in the House mandating that, in the event of a person's death while in police custody or in an alleged fake encounter, their dependents be granted government jobs and compensation on a uniform basis. He argued that it is inappropriate to provide a job and compensation to one family while ignoring others who have suffered similar losses.

Rahul Tiwari noted that the announcement regarding the job for Bharat Bhushan Tiwari's family came after the defeat in the by-election. Citing the case of Sanoj Kumar Ram—a resident of Dharhara village under the Bihiya police station area—he pointed out that the family has alleged he was picked up from his home by Excise Department personnel and subsequently went missing; the affected family in this instance should also receive compensation and a job.

He asserted that instead of treating individuals or families differently, the government should enact a clear law covering all such cases. Furthermore, in instances where an officer or employee is found guilty during the investigation, immediate action—including dismissal—should be taken against them.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced the provision of a government job and financial assistance via a post on his official social media handle, 'X'. He wrote, "Based on the interim report of the judicial inquiry, the Bihar government will provide financial assistance and a government job to one family member of the late Bharat Tiwari."

Recognizing the gravity of the matter, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary had constituted a judicial inquiry commission headed by a retired High Court judge. Now, based on the commission's interim report, the government has announced financial assistance and a government job for a family member of the deceased. Bharat was shot dead in an incident labeled as a police encounter on June 17, 2026.
