PATNA----------------------------There is welcome news for students in Bihar. Degrees, marksheets, and other academic certificates from all 17 state universities will now be available online via the National Academic Depository (NAD) and Academic Credit Bank (ACB) portals.

This decision was taken during a review meeting held on Thursday at Bihar Lok Bhawan, chaired by Deepak Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor.

All universities are required to upload pending degrees and marksheets to the NAD and ACB portals by September 30, 2026. Progress will be reviewed every 15 days via video conferencing.

Given Bihar's specific circumstances, the portal will be reopened from September 1 to October 31, 2026, to facilitate the digitization of old handwritten and paper-based records. The Higher Education Department will provide the necessary personnel for this task.

A common format will be devised to ensure uniformity in uploading older mark-based certificates. Patna University, Magadh University, B.R.A. Bihar University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, and L.N. Mithila University will collaborate to finalize this format.

An IT manager will be appointed at each state university to provide technical assistance. They will help resolve issues related to digitization, uploading, and portal operations.

Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar Singh stated that the digitization of academic records would enable students to easily and instantly access their degrees and certificates from anywhere. The document verification process for employment, higher education, and studies abroad will become faster and more transparent.

Controllers of Examinations from all universities and Prakash Kumar Pandey, the National Coordinator for NAD-ABC, were also present at the meeting.
