STUDENT FALLS FROM ROOF AT MIDNIGHT

BHABHUA--------------------------A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Thursday night at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School in Badgaon Khurd, located within the Adhaura block of the district. Birla Kumar, a 9-year-old student studying in the third grade, died after falling from the roof. Following the incident, the school premises transformed into a chaotic scene on Friday morning, as family members and villagers created a massive uproar.

According to reports, the student, Birla Kumar (son of Ramkuwar Ram), was walking on the roof on Thursday night when he suddenly fell, sustaining severe injuries. School teachers hurriedly rushed him to the Adhaura Community Health Center on a motorcycle; however, the young boy breathed his last while being transported to the hospital. As soon as the news reached the family members on Friday morning, hundreds of villagers gathered at the school premises.

Given the gravity of the situation, DDC Divya Shakti, Bhabhua SDM Amit Kumar, and DSP Aniket Amar arrived at the scene accompanied by a heavy police force. Upon observing the crowd within the premises, the DDC severely reprimanded the Headmaster and the Block Welfare Officer for security protocol lapses and for allowing the crowd to enter without proper authorization. She permitted only the immediate family members and a five-member delegation to enter the premises, a decision that further enraged the villagers gathered outside.

Refusing to accept the incident as a mere accident, the deceased student's family members and villagers have alleged a "conspiracy." They claim that the student was deliberately thrown off the roof. The DDC conducted a meticulous inspection of the incident site and subjected Birla's 11 other classmates—who resided in Room No. 10—as well as the teachers and security guards, to an intensive interrogation lasting approximately one and a half hours. As the DDC prepared to depart, the agitated villagers intercepted her vehicle, demanding an impartial inquiry and strict action against those responsible.

SDM Amit Kumar has issued directives to the Block Development Officer to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the security arrangements at all residential schools within the region. Orders have been issued to establish accountability among teachers for the supervision of students in the hostel and to ensure immediate medical treatment in the event of illness. The body was subjected to a post-mortem examination in Bhabhua and subsequently handed over to the family members. The administration has stated that further action will be taken based on scientific investigations and the post-mortem report.
