ARA----------------------------A significant number of the family disputes, physical altercations, lawsuits, and murders occurring in society today stem from conflicts over land and property. Brothers turn into enemies over a few *katthas* or acres of land, sons stand against their fathers, and relatives refuse to even look at one another.

The greatest irony is that the very people fighting these battles eventually depart from this world, yet the land remains exactly where it was. Some end up in hospitals, others in jail, some lose their lives, and entire families fall apart—all for the sake of land that cannot be taken along by anyone.

Today, across many districts in the country—including Bihar—thousands of acres of land lie fallow for years. The reason is singular: family disputes and greed. One generation grows old making rounds of the courts, only for the next generation to carry on the same litigation. Time, money, and relationships are all squandered.

In my experience, if a division of property is necessary, it should be done with a calm mind, based on documentation, and through fairness and mutual consent. Parents, too, should distribute their assets equally and justly, without discrimination. Wherever partiality and greed creep in, love, trust, and brotherhood begin to wither away.

Society must learn from incidents where a brother killed a brother, a son murdered his father, or a family was ruined—all over land. In the end, neither relationships, nor dignity, nor peace and happiness survived.

Remember—Land has a price, but a brother does not. Wealth can be rebuilt, but a family cannot. Litigation ruins generations, whereas brotherhood nurtures them.

Let us choose love over greed, dialogue over dispute, and prioritize relationships over land. This is the hallmark of a civilized, strong, and happy society.
