PATH CLEARED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SAMRAT ASHOK BHAWAN

ARA--------------------------The path for constructing the proposed Samrat Ashok Bhawan in the Piro municipal area—intended for hosting meetings, ceremonies, and similar events—has been cleared following the receipt of technical approval for the cost estimate and approval of the Bill of Quantities (BoQ) from the Urban Development and Housing Department. Prior to this, the Piro Circle Officer had issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and made 11 acres of land available for the project; this land, owned by the Bihar Government (Khata 1409, Khesra 1424), is located near Lohia Chowk in the town. It is worth noting that the foundation stone for the Samrat Ashok Bhawan was laid in December 2023 by the then District Magistrate Raj Kumar and Deputy Development Commissioner Vikram Veerkar; however, construction had not commenced until now due to technical hurdles. The Municipal Council Chairperson had been actively pursuing the matter, consistently raising the issue of the proposed construction before senior officials at various forums, including meetings of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA). Recently, she met with Nitish Mishra, the Minister for Urban Development and Housing, to highlight the issue, subsequently securing administrative approval for the cost estimate and approval for the Bill of Quantities from the department. According to Chairperson Kiran Upadhyay, technical approval has been granted for a cost estimate of ₹1,66,43,540 (one crore sixty-six lakh forty-three thousand five hundred and forty rupees) for the Samrat Ashok Bhawan.
