ARA--------------------------A disturbing incident has emerged from the Jagdishpur block of Bhojpur district, once again exposing the poor functioning and safety standards of the Electricity Department. A poor farmer's cow died tragically from electrocution due to alleged negligence by the Electricity Department in Sonvarsha village of Shivpur Panchayat. Expressing deep grief and outrage over the incident, former Jagdishpur MLA Bhai Dinesh has demanded immediate compensation for the victim.
According to information received, the deceased cattle belonged to Chandrama Yadav, a resident of Sonvarsha village under Shivpur Panchayat of Jagdishpur block. He had purchased the cow just a day earlier for a hefty sum of approximately one lakh rupees. The farmer's family had hoped that this milch animal would become their livelihood support, but fate and the department's negligence had other plans. When the cattle went out to graze in the village, it wandered near an electric transformer installed in the village. There was heavy waterlogging near the transformer's earthing wire, and electric current was flowing in that water. As soon as the cow came into contact with the water, it received a severe shock and died on the spot.
Former MLA Bhai Dinesh, calling the incident criminal negligence on the part of the electricity department, said that there were no safety measures in place near the transformer. The transformer's earthing wire was submerged in water, and no protective fence or fencing had been installed. This was the result of the sheer indifference of the electricity department officials and employees, resulting in the loss of property and livelihood to a poor farmer.
Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, Bhai Dinesh provided detailed information about the incident to the Executive Engineer, Electricity Board, Jagdishpur-Bihiya. Bhai Dinesh strongly demanded from the district administration and higher officials of the electricity department that the affected farmer be provided adequate compensation commensurate with his financial loss.
