BHABHUA--------------------------In accordance with the directives of the National Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority will organize two Special Lok Adalats this year to ensure the speedy and amicable disposal of pending cases related to Section 138 of the NI Act (Negotiable Instruments Act/Check Bounce).
The first Special Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held on July 18, 2026, and the second on November 21, 2026.
A significant meeting regarding the preparations for and review of these Special Lok Adalats was held on Monday at the ADR Building in Shivhar.
During the meeting, presided over by the Secretary of the Authority, it was reported that a total of 297 cases related to check bounces have been identified so far.
To ensure the successful disposal of these cases, physical notices are being dispatched to the concerned parties. Additionally, they are being informed and sensitized through online channels to facilitate the process of mutual settlement in a timely manner.
All judicial officers of the CJM division participated in the meeting. The Secretary obtained updated statistics regarding pending NI Act cases across various courts and discussed strategies to maximize the number of case settlements during the upcoming two Lok Adalats.
Those present at the meeting included the Chief Judicial Magistrate; the Sub-Judge-I (cum) Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-I; the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate; Judicial Magistrates First Class—Mrs. Nandini Suman, Mr. Aman Kumar, and Mr. Syed Amir Ali; and Judicial Magistrate Second Class, Mr. Chandan Kumar.
The District Legal Services Authority has appealed to all concerned parties within the district, as well as the general public, to avail themselves of the opportunity presented by the Special Lok Adalats scheduled for July 18 and November 21, 2026. This initiative has been highlighted as a golden opportunity to resolve check-bounce-related cases through mutual consent, thereby avoiding the complexities and delays associated with prolonged litigation.
