ARA---------------------------Today, reports were received regarding the wastage of irrigation water due to a breach in the canal running from Tarari to Garhani (Banas River) in the Sohri Panchayat (Harpur) area of Garhani Block, Bhojpur district. This is not merely a localized issue but a serious matter concerning the interests of farmers.
The time for paddy transplanting is fast approaching. Therefore, immediate repairs must be undertaken for all canals that are breached or dilapidated across the entire Bhojpur district—including Jagdishpur and Piro blocks—the Shahabad region (Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, and Kaimur), and various other districts of Bihar.
I urge the Hon'ble Minister of Water Resources and the Departmental Secretary of the Bihar Government to conduct a special survey of all canals in the state and ensure that repair work is carried out on a war footing before transplanting begins. Only when farmers receive timely irrigation water will agricultural production increase and the rural poor be empowered. A strong farmer means a strong Bihar.
