BHABHUA--------------------------The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) X, Dr. Arun Kumar Tiwari, sentenced one accused to seven years of imprisonment for attempted murder and handed down sentences to others under various other sections. On June 2, 2026, the court of ADJ X (Civil Court, Bhabua, Kaimur) sentenced the accused Dharmendra Kushwaha (son of Subhash Kushwaha, resident of Sirihira village, Chand Police Station, Kaimur district) to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for attempted murder, along with a fine of ₹10,000 (or an additional two months of imprisonment in default of payment). He was also sentenced to three years of imprisonment under Section 27 of the Arms Act, with a fine of ₹5,000 (or an additional two months of imprisonment in default of payment). Additionally, the court found Mohan Kushwaha, Nandlal Kushwaha (both sons of the late Jili Kushwaha), and Virendra Kushwaha (son of the late Sudama Kushwaha)—all residents of Sirihira village, Chand Police Station, Kaimur district—guilty under Sections 323, 341, and 337 of the IPC but released them under the provisions of the Probation of Offenders Act. Additional Public Prosecutor Kumari Saroj Tiwari stated that the complainant, Guna Devi (wife of Rangila Yadav, resident of Sirihira village, Chand Police Station, Kaimur district), reported that on the morning of April 6, 2020, at 7:00 AM, she was sitting at home when Gyani Kushwaha (aged 13, son of Mohan Kushwaha) was beating her sister-in-law's son, Mukesh Yadav (aged 10). She ran over, scolded both of them, and separated them. During this time, the accused Mohan Kushwaha, Nandlal Kushwaha, and Virendra Kushwaha arrived carrying sticks and chased after her. As she fled to save her life, her children—Sumant Yadav and Pooja Kumari—stepped in to intervene; at that point, the group began pelting bricks and stones, causing an injury to Pooja Kumari's leg. During this incident, Dharmendra Kushwaha arrived wielding a gun and shouting abuses; he fired at my son, Sumant Yadav, with the intent to kill, and the bullet struck his arm. Subsequently, he was taken to Chand Hospital and then to Sadar Hospital, Bhabua. Given his critical condition, he was referred to the Trauma Center, where he received treatment and eventually recovered. Eight prosecution witnesses testified regarding this case, while defense counsel Kamta Prasad Singh presented the defense's arguments.
