Yogananda's Wisdom Draws Crowds at Kolkata Literary Festival
KOLKATA FEB 3 (RNI) The Kolkata International Book Fair concluded today, February 3, marking the end of a 12-day literary and cultural event. On the final day, Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) Book Stall No. 264 witnessed a significant presence of devotees and spiritual seekers, reflecting the growing interest in the teachings of Gurudev Paramahansa Yogananda.
A Grand Closing Ceremony
The closing of the stall was formally observed by Swami Achyutananda and Swami Shreyananda through prayer, meditation, and a brief spiritual discourse. Prasad was later distributed among the large number of devotees assembled on the occasion.
Youth Flock to YSS Book Stall
Throughout the fair, the Yogoda Satsanga book stall remained a major center of attraction, drawing visitors from diverse age groups, particularly youth. A steady and remarkable response was seen for Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual literature, with many seekers expressing keen interest in understanding Kriya Yoga, its practice, and its potential for direct realization of God. Such queries were addressed by the stall in-charge, Shukla Basu (Kriyaban), as well as monks from the ashram.
Popular Publications
Among the publications, Paramahansa Yogananda’s internationally acclaimed work “Autobiography of a Yogi” emerged as the most sought-after title. Visitors also showed notable enthusiasm for the newly released volume of his unpublished talks, “Solving the Mystery of Life.” Other important works such as “God Talks with Arjuna” and “The Second Coming of Christ” were widely purchased, often for gifting purposes. Several readers also selected collections of his lectures including “Man’s Eternal Quest,” “The Divine Romance,” and “Journey to Self-Realization.”
A Testament to Enduring Spiritual Influence
It is noteworthy that “Autobiography of a Yogi” has been translated into more than 50 languages worldwide, including Urdu, underscoring its enduring global spiritual influence. Overall, the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India stall played a prominent spiritual role during the book fair, attracting a large number of devotees and highlighting the increasing enthusiasm for Kriya Yoga and Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings, especially among the younger generation.
