Serious Allegations of Security Breach in Indian Cricket: Outsider’s Access to Team Raises Questions

New Delhi (RNI) A major controversy has erupted in Indian cricket following allegations that an outsider, identified as Akram Sefi, illegally gained access to the Indian cricket team’s most secured areas, traveled with players, and posed with the prestigious World Cup Trophy.

In a letter addressed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), its Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU), and investigative agencies including the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED), complainant Upendra Yadav from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has demanded immediate legal action and a high-level independent inquiry.

Yadav claims that Sefi, described as a “batting dalal” (fixer), has a criminal background in Uttar Pradesh involving fraud, extortion threats, harassment of women, and misuse of political influence. He alleges that Sefi took large sums of money from aspiring players under false pretenses, threatened to kill those who demanded refunds, and engaged in other unlawful activities.

The complaint questions how such a person could gain access to restricted zones like dressing rooms and secure stadium areas, suggesting possible complicity of BCCI or ACSU officials.

The complaint includes demands for the immediate suspension of all access and a ban on Sefi from cricket premises; identification and punishment of any officials who enabled his access; referral of the case to the ED and CBI for criminal and financial investigation; and a public explanation from the BCCI regarding the breach and the preventive measures to be implemented.

Yadav has warned that if the BCCI fails to act promptly, he will escalate the matter to courts, national media, and public platforms.

The allegations, if proven, point to a serious lapse in cricket security, raising concerns over player safety, corruption, and the integrity of the sport in India. BCCI has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
