ARA----------------------------The RPF and GRP have busted an inter-state gang of female thieves that targeted rail passengers at Ara railway station. In a joint operation conducted under "Operation Yatri Suraksha" (Passenger Safety Operation), five cunning women from Nagpur, Maharashtra, were arrested. Stolen cash amounting to ₹45,900, a red purse, and a suspicious gold-like locket were recovered from their possession.

The incident occurred while Prakash Kumar, a resident of Patna, was helping his family board the A-1 coach of the 13041 Express. During this time, the women surrounded his mother and stole ₹45,900 in cash from her purse. When the victim raised an alarm, the RPF and GRP teams present at the scene took immediate action and apprehended all five women.

During interrogation, the arrested women identified themselves as Sonu Gautam Nade, Nayana Shankar Nade, Khushbu, Sheshkala, and Vanita. All of them are residents of Nagpur, Maharashtra. The entire stolen amount was recovered during the search. A locket appearing to be made of gold was also found with one of the women; she could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding it.

During the investigation, the women admitted that they operated as an organized gang targeting passengers—especially women—at railway stations and on trains, stealing purses and valuables by taking advantage of the crowds.

The RPF and GRP produced the accused women in court, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody. The police are now investigating the gang's criminal history and its involvement in crimes in other states.
