ARA-------------------------An elderly man was stabbed on Tuesday morning in Prasaunda Tola village, under the jurisdiction of the Karnamepur police station, following a land dispute. He sustained a stab wound to his right thigh, resulting in serious injury. Family members rushed him to Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation.

According to reports, the injured man is 60-year-old Umlesh Mishra, a farmer and resident of Ward No. 12, Prasaunda Tola village (Karnamepur police station area); he is the son of the late Balesar Mishra. Umlesh Mishra stated that in 2023, his kinsman Jitendra Mishra had sold off a five-katha plot of land that belonged to Umlesh's share. An FIR had previously been lodged against Jitendra Mishra at the local police station regarding this matter.

The dispute has been ongoing since then, and Jitendra Mishra had allegedly threatened to kill him on several occasions. On Tuesday morning, while Umlesh was sitting at a neighbor's doorstep, Jitendra Mishra and his brother Ravindra Mishra entered his home and began behaving indecently with his wife. When Umlesh rushed to the spot upon hearing his wife's screams, he was stabbed.

The injured man has accused Jitendra Mishra and his brother Ravindra Mishra of assault stemming from the prior dispute, specifically alleging that Ravindra Mishra stabbed him. Sudhakar Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Karnamepur police station, stated that the incident appears to be linked to the earlier dispute. The police are currently investigating the matter.
