PATNA-----------------------To make it easier for farmers in Bihar to transport their agricultural produce from the farm to the market, the government has launched a new initiative. Under the 'Marigold Flower Production and Processing Scheme'—administered by the State Directorate of Horticulture (Department of Agriculture)—eligible farmers can receive a subsidy of up to 50% on the purchase of a pickup truck for transporting goods. Farmers can avail a maximum subsidy of ₹3.25 lakh under this scheme. Online applications are now open, and farmers can apply until December 31, 2026.

Under this scheme, farmers will be provided a subsidy of up to 50% of the cost of a pickup truck purchased for transporting goods. The government has set the maximum cost of the vehicle at ₹6.50 lakh. The subsidy amount will be calculated based on either the actual purchase price of the vehicle or ₹3.25 lakh—whichever is lower. For instance, if a farmer purchases a vehicle for ₹6.50 lakh, they can receive a maximum subsidy of ₹3.25 lakh. Conversely, if the vehicle costs ₹5 lakh, they would receive a subsidy of ₹2.50 lakh (50% of the cost). This initiative will help farmers reduce the expenses incurred in transporting their produce.

Who is eligible for this scheme?

This scheme is specifically designed for farmers engaged in the cultivation of marigold flowers. The government's objective is to support farmers not only in flower production but also in the transportation and marketing of their produce. The pickup truck can be used to transport marigold flowers and other agricultural products from the farm to local markets, *mandis* (wholesale markets), or other sales outlets. To avail the benefits of the scheme, farmers must meet the eligibility criteria and fulfill the conditions stipulated by the department. Therefore, before applying, farmers should carefully check the eligibility criteria and the required documents as specified by the Horticulture Department.

Applications for the scheme can be submitted through the online portal of the Directorate of Horticulture, under the Bihar Agriculture Department. When applying online, farmers can select the relevant scheme, provide their personal and farming-related details, and upload the necessary documents. Applicants should have their Aadhaar card, bank account details, and any other documents required by the scheme ready beforehand. Once the application form is filled out, ensure all information is thoroughly reviewed before final submission. It is also important to keep the application receipt or application number safe, as it will be needed to track the status of the application later.

The deadline for submitting online applications under the Marigold Flower Production and Processing Scheme is December 31, 2026. Interested and eligible farmers may apply without waiting until the final date. This scheme is particularly beneficial for farmers who cultivate marigolds and face challenges in transporting their produce to the market. The government grant provided for the purchase of a vehicle can help alleviate the burden of transportation costs for farmers. However, before purchasing a vehicle, farmers should consult the official portal to verify the scheme's terms and conditions, eligibility criteria, approved vehicle types, and required documentation.
