BUXAR---------------------------In a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade within the Nagar Panchayat area, the Brahmpur police seized 32.7 kg of cannabis on Wednesday. Seven individuals were arrested at the scene. Additionally, 1.13 quintals of coins, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and a weighing scale were confiscated.

Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya had received information regarding a large consignment of cannabis arriving at the residence of Rajan Sharma—son of Bala Sharma—in the Nagar Panchayat area. Acting on his instructions, a team led by officiating SDPO Sameer Kumar Singh conducted a raid, recovering the cannabis and other items from the premises.

During a press conference at the police station, the officiating SDPO stated that the network linked to the arrested individuals is currently under investigation. The police are working to determine the source of the cannabis and identify all those involved in the trade. The names and addresses of the seven arrested individuals have not yet been disclosed.

The recurring seizures of narcotics in Brahmpur and surrounding areas have raised concerns regarding the extent of this illegal trade. Just two days earlier, during a raid in Raghunathpur, police had seized 480 packets of heroin, Rs 1.11 lakh in cash, and 7.45 kg of coins, leading to the arrest of three people.

Following these significant seizures of heroin and cannabis within a two-day span, the police are now focused on unearthing the entire network behind this illicit trade. The operation on Wednesday caused a stir in the Nagar Panchayat area, with the situation remaining chaotic for several hours. As news of the raid spread, a crowd gathered at the scene, sparking various discussions throughout the area.
