Badaun: Liquor Worth ₹50 Lakh Seized on Ganga Expressway, Two Arrested

BADAUN (RNI) Acting under the state government's Special Enforcement Drive, the Excise Department and Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a joint operation on Sunday, July 19, and seized 748 Petty of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth approximately ₹50 lakh from a truck on the Ganga Expressway.

The truck (Registration No. UP32 PN 1036) was intercepted during a checking drive. Officials recovered consignments of IMFL of the IB, RS and RC brands, which were reportedly authorised for sale in Chandigarh.

An FIR has been registered at Hazratpur Police Station under Case Crime No. 0107/2026 against three accused—two identified and one unidentified—under the relevant provisions of the Excise Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The accused were arrested during the operation carried out by Regional Excise Inspector Prakash Singh, excise personnel, and a police team led by Sub-Inspector munesh Kumar of Hazratpur Police Station.

Officials said the seized liquor is estimated to be worth around ₹50 lakh. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the consignment, its intended route, and whether an organised interstate liquor smuggling network was involved.
