BHABHUA-------------------------A truly tragic and heart-wrenching incident has emerged from Kevadhi village in the Kudra police station area of ​​Kaimur district. The roof of a house under construction suddenly collapsed, trapping and killing a nine-month pregnant woman beneath the debris. Most tragic of all, the woman was due to give birth within a day or two. The very home where preparations were underway to welcome a new family member is now engulfed in mourning.

On Friday, an accident occurred in Kevadhi village—falling under the Kudra police station area of ​​Kaimur district—that has shaken the entire region. Ranju Kumari, the 22-year-old wife of village resident Nandu Kumar Pal, was cooking in her home... It is reported that during this time, the *chhajja* (overhanging ledge) and a section of the roof of the house under construction suddenly collapsed. Heavy debris from the roof fell directly onto Ranju Devi, leaving her critically injured and trapped beneath the rubble. Bystanders who heard the loud crash immediately rushed to the scene. Villagers began efforts to clear the debris without wasting a moment. Despite strenuous efforts to extricate her, it was too late; she had already succumbed to her injuries at the site. This tragedy claimed not only the life of the pregnant woman but also that of the unborn child she was carrying.

According to her family, Ranju Devi was due to give birth within a day or two. The family was busy preparing to welcome the new arrival, but this sudden accident shattered all their happiness. The home that was expected to echo with the sounds of a baby's laughter is now filled with wailing and mourning. The family is devastated with grief following the incident. Nandu Kumar Pal, the deceased's husband, said:

"My wife, Ranju Devi, was cooking at home when the roof's ledge collapsed. She was trapped under the debris, which resulted in her death."

Upon receiving news of the incident, the Kudra police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Kudra Station House Officer (SHO) Priyesh Priyadarshi stated that the preliminary investigation confirmed the woman's death was caused by the roof collapse. The police are examining all aspects of the incident, and the necessary legal formalities are being completed.
