ARA----------------------------The case regarding the tragic death of Bharat Tiwari—allegedly in a police encounter—in Shahpur (Bilauti), Bhojpur district, has become a topic of discussion across the state and the country. Former Ara MP R.K. Singh has termed the incident an act of gross barbarity by the police administration and a violation of the judicial process. According to him, the incident, which occurred on June 17, has not only shocked local residents but also raised serious questions about the functioning of the law and order machinery.

The former MP stated that Bharat Tiwari was a socially conscious young man who had long been struggling for the rehabilitation and rights of the displaced poor from Javainya. Evidence recorded via Facebook Live indicates that Tiwari had surrendered by discarding his weapon at the behest of the police administration. At that time, the police themselves had acknowledged that the accused had handed over his weapon and had been taken into custody.

According to R.K. Singh, statements made by the SP and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also confirm that Bharat Tiwari was in police custody; however, shortly thereafter, his family members... News of the killing was received. Five bullet wounds on the body bear witness to the fact that he was brutally murdered while in police custody.

The former MP has strongly demanded a CBI inquiry into the entire matter. While the state government's decision to order a judicial probe is commendable, he argues that if the very department accused of the murder conducts the investigation, the impartiality of justice cannot be ensured. The demand for a CBI probe is not merely that of the victim's family; it is also essential to restore public confidence.

RK Singh expressed strong indignation over the caste-based politics surrounding this serious issue. He stated unequivocally that engaging in caste politics over the death of a young man is not only condemnable but also reflects the insensitivity of those in power. He emphasized that this is not a matter of 'forward' versus 'backward' castes, but rather an issue of police oppression and brutality, of which anyone could become a victim. If this unchecked police power is not challenged today, such a tragedy could befall any ordinary citizen or their children tomorrow.

Reminding the ruling party of its responsibilities, the former MP remarked that the level of politics should not stoop so low as to attempt to divide society even in sensitive cases like murder. A party that champions the slogan 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (Together with all, Development for all) ought to demonstrate impartiality in this matter. This is the time to rise above caste politics to secure justice for the deceased and ensure accountability within the police system. The demand for justice is not a personal one; it is a prerequisite for a healthy and safe society.
