On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an awareness program was organized at the Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Law College, Buxar, under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The program was presided over by the College Principal, Dr. Krishna Ali Albert, while the proceedings and leadership were guided by the Program Officer, Mangal Singh.

BUXAR-------------------------On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an awareness program was organized at the Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Law College, Buxar, under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The program was presided over by the College Principal, Dr. Krishna Ali Albert, while the proceedings and leadership were guided by the Program Officer, Mangal Singh.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, performed jointly by the College Secretary (and Senate Member) Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh, Principal Dr. Krishna Ali Albert, and Program Officer Mangal Singh.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh, stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) passed a resolution in 1987 to observe World No Tobacco Day with the objective of preventing deaths caused by tobacco consumption and advocating for effective policies to combat it. He noted that more than 8 million people worldwide die annually due to tobacco-related diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and severe lung ailments.
He further remarked that substance abuse is a social evil that not only harms an individual's health but also hinders the development of their family, society, and the nation. Therefore, the youth should abstain from tobacco and other addictive habits.
Principal Dr. Krishna Ali Albert stated that the objective of World No Tobacco Day is to raise public awareness regarding the adverse effects of tobacco consumption, ensuring that no individual falls victim to this deadly addiction. He also called upon the students to help spread this awareness within society.
The event was attended by Assistant Professors Upendra Kumar Singh and Madan Singh, Advocate Harendra Kumar Singh, college staff member Jagannath Ram, as well as a large number of students. Prominent among the students present were Sajid Khan, Raviranjan Tiwari, Ananya Kumari, Geeta Kumari, and Ajmeri Khatoon. The program concluded with a collective pledge to strive for a tobacco-free society.
