Shambhu Kumar Assumes Charge as Bareilly Divisional Commissioner

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh): Senior IAS officer Shambhu Kumar has assumed charge as the new Divisional Commissioner of Bareilly, pledging a zero-tolerance approach towards law and order and emphasizing transparent implementation of government welfare schemes.

Kumar, a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, took charge late on Wednesday night after arriving in Bareilly. He was welcomed by senior administrative officials and staff at the Commissionerate.

Speaking to the media after assuming office, Kumar said public welfare would remain at the centre of his administration. He asserted that ensuring the benefits of government welfare schemes reach the last person in society in a transparent and accountable manner would be his foremost priority.

"The public interest is paramount. We will adopt a zero-tolerance policy on law and order, while ensuring that grievances of citizens are addressed promptly," he said.

Prior to his new assignment, Kumar was serving as the Managing Director of the Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL). During his administrative career, he has held several key positions at both the state government and district levels.

His appointment comes in the wake of a recent administrative reshuffle by the Uttar Pradesh government involving 13 senior IAS officers. Former Bareilly Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S. Chaudhary has been transferred to the Department of Administrative Reforms in Lucknow, with Shambhu Kumar succeeding him as the new Commissioner of the Bareilly Division.
