BHABHUA-----------------------The impact of flooding is now clearly visible in the Kudra block of the district due to the continuously rising water level of the Durgavati River. A rapid rise in the river's water level was recorded starting Tuesday afternoon. Consequently, two culverts in the Kudra block area have been completely submerged, disrupting movement along nearby routes connecting numerous villages.

The sudden surge in the Durgavati River's water has heightened anxiety among residents of the surrounding areas. The water is spreading rapidly, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas. According to locals, the flow of the water intensified significantly after midday.

It is reported that the rising water level in the Durgavati Reservoir is impacting both the Durgavati River and its associated canals. As the water level in the reservoir rises, the pressure within the river and canals has increased. Within a short span, the river water began flowing over the culverts, submerging both structures.

With water rising over the culverts, local movement along this route has been severely disrupted. Villagers traveling between the Kudra and Rampur blocks are facing difficulties and are being forced to use the Telari-Chanari route; meanwhile, people are being prevented from crossing the culverts due to the strong current.

Villagers state that if the water level of the Durgavati River continues to rise at this rate If the situation continues to escalate, conditions could become even more critical in the near future. There is a heightened risk of water inundating low-lying areas and villages situated along the riverbanks.

Following a rise in water levels at the Durgawati Reservoir, the flow of water has intensified in both the Durgawati River and its associated canals; in several places, the canals appear to be overflowing. The mounting water pressure has created an atmosphere of panic among villagers living near the river and canals.

Local residents are keeping a constant watch on the river's water level. Villagers are monitoring the situation independently and alerting one another as the water rises.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that negligence by officials at the Durgawati Reservoir and Karamchat Dam—specifically the failure to release water in a timely manner—led to excessive accumulation. Fearing potential damage to the dam, a sudden release of water was subsequently ordered, disrupting normal life in the area.
