BHABHUA=-----------------------------In a major breakthrough under the ongoing special campaign against narcotics, the Mohania police in Kaimur district, Bihar, arrested a notorious drug trafficker and recovered a substantial quantity of heroin along with other items.
Salamuddin Idrishi, 45, a resident of Badi Bazar Ward-11 in Mohania, was apprehended on the basis of secret information. He was a named accused in an earlier NDPS Act case (Case No. 642/26) registered in August. Intelligence indicated that he was hiding at the house of his brother-in-law, Alauddin Miyan, in Badupur village.
Acting on the directions of the Superintendent of Police, a police team was quickly formed and raided the location. Upon spotting the force, Idrishi attempted to flee on a motorcycle, but alert personnel intercepted and detained him.
A search of his belongings recovered approximately 202.83 grams of heroin-like narcotics from a bag attached to the handle of his motorcycle. The consignment has an estimated market value of ₹25–30 lakh. Police also seized a black Vivo mobile phone, a black Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle (registration number BR45 T 7274), and ₹4,680 in cash.
Mohania Police Station has registered Case No. 824/26 under the NDPS Act, and further legal proceedings are underway. Idrishi has a long criminal record, with multiple serious cases already registered against him under the NDPS Act at Mohania, Chainpur, and Sonhan police stations.
Speaking at a press conference, Mohania Sub-Divisional Police Officer (DSP) Gopal Krishna said the arrest forms part of a sustained, mission-mode drive against drug trafficking in the area. In recent months, police have arrested and sent to jail several other traffickers, including individuals named Zuber, Kalua, Saddam, and Brajesh.
Authorities have also initiated proceedings to confiscate properties allegedly acquired by Idrishi through illegal drug trafficking. The process has been underway for the past two to three months, and police expressed confidence of success.
DSP Gopal Krishna affirmed that the strict campaign against drug traffickers will continue under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police.
