ARA-----------------------Former Jagdishpur MLA Bhai Dinesh has expressed deep concern regarding the proposed construction of a waste disposal facility (garbage dump) near a hostel, the revered ashram of Shri Payahari Ji, a densely populated area, and a primary thoroughfare used by people from hundreds of villages. To address this serious public concern, he has sent a letter to the District Magistrate (DM) of Bhojpur, strongly urging an immediate halt to the project and calling for an impartial investigation into the entire matter.
Drawing the attention of the administrative authorities, Bhai Dinesh emphasized the need to recognize the significance and sensitivity of the chosen site. On one hand, there is a hostel—a 'temple of education' where the future of the youth is shaped—while on the other, there is the sacred ashram of the esteemed Shri Payahari Ji, a site of profound faith for millions of devotees. Furthermore, the area is densely populated and serves as a daily transit point for residents from hundreds of villages. Constructing a waste disposal facility at this location, while disregarding these critical factors, cannot be justified under any circumstances.
In his letter, he highlighted that such a facility would inevitably lead to foul odors, severe pollution, and associated health risks, contaminating the entire surrounding environment. There is also a significant risk of toxic gases being released from decomposing waste, or the potential for other untoward incidents. He noted that the responsibility of a responsive administration extends beyond merely appointing an inquiry commission after a major disaster occurs; true wisdom lies in identifying potential threats in advance and taking proactive measures to prevent them.
He has formally requested the District Magistrate to conduct an inspection of the proposed site. Additionally, he has demanded an impartial investigation into the entire process that led to the authorization of a waste disposal facility at this location. If this site is found to be unsuitable from the perspective of public interest and the environment, the current plan should be cancelled immediately, and a different, more isolated and appropriate location should be selected for the waste facility. It has also been urged that no construction work of any kind should commence at the site until an impartial investigation into the entire matter is completed.
