BUXAR----------------------------In the night, a young man sleeping on a watchtower in a field was shot dead. Upon receiving news of the incident, the victim's family was plunged into chaos. The crime took place in the fields (Badhar) of Akodha village, located within the jurisdiction of the Chauri Police Station in Bhojpur district. The criminals fired two bullets into the youth's head, which lodged in the back of his skull. Following the report of the incident, the Chauri Police arrived at the scene and have commenced an investigation into the entire matter.

The deceased has been identified as Abhimanyu Singh, 25—son of Virendra Singh—a resident of Akodha village within the Chauri Police Station area. According to sources among the villagers, Abhimanyu lived in the village and was engaged in farming. Meanwhile, his father, Virendra Singh, stated that Abhimanyu had left home late at night—around 10:00 PM—without informing anyone. However, when he failed to return by late night, the family began searching for him in the vicinity. They called his friends, but there was no trace of Abhimanyu.

The victim's father, Virendra Singh, recounted that on Friday morning, some villagers went toward the fields. There, beneath the watchtower, they discovered Abhimanyu's blood-soaked body. It was only then that he was informed of the tragedy. He stated that upon receiving the news, he immediately rushed to the crime scene, where his son's body lay face-down. When he lifted his son's head, he observed a gunshot wound on his forehead. Virendra stated that neither he, his family, nor Abhimanyu had any dispute with anyone in the village. He further informed that the police were notified immediately. The police subsequently sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Regarding the incident, Piro SDPO-cum-ASP K.K. Singh stated that unidentified criminals carried out the crime.

The deceased's family members have not named anyone as an accused. The post-mortem has been conducted, and efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators. The deceased, Abhimanyu, is survived by his wife Sushila Devi, a son named Abhiraj Kumar, and a daughter named Arya Kumari. Abhimanyu was the only son of the family.
