SITTING JUDGE NOT A RETIRED ONE SHOULD CONDCUT PROBE: UDAY NARAYAN CHAUDHARY

23-JUNE-ENG 11

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA-----------------------------The alleged encounter case involving Bharat Bhushan Tiwari has become a topic of discussion in Bihar's political circles. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) now appears to be adopting an aggressive stance in demanding justice regarding this matter. On Sunday, a party delegation led by former Bihar Assembly Speaker and RJD National Vice President Uday Narayan Chaudhary visited Bilauti village, met the aggrieved family, and assured them of justice.

Speaking on this sensitive issue, Uday Narayan Chaudhary put forward a significant demand. He asserted that the investigation into the case should be conducted by a sitting judge rather than a retired one. Chaudhary emphasized that inquiries conducted by retired judges often amount to mere formalities or a cover-up. He also suggested the formation of an all-party committee of the Legislative Assembly to uncover the truth behind the incident and impartially examine all the facts.

RJD leaders allege that Bharat Bhushan Tiwari was fighting for the rights and entitlements of the poor, for which he was constantly harassed by officials. Party leaders believe he was provoked and pushed into a situation where the administration ultimately shot him dead. Terming the entire incident a "fake encounter," the RJD has leveled serious allegations against the government.

The RJD has put forward several demands in support of the victim's family. Key among these are granting the status of "martyr" to Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, providing compensation of ₹1 crore to his dependents, and offering a government job to his brother. Additionally, there is a call for the construction of a memorial in his honor in Bilauti village.

The RJD delegation included several senior leaders and party workers, such as former MLAs Vijendra Yadav, Ramvishun Lohia, and Arun Yadav, along with party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari and District President Birbal Yadav. Sonu Rai, the MLC for Bhojpur-Buxar, stated that the RJD's struggle will continue until Bharat Bhushan Tiwari's family receives justice.
