BUXAR------------------------------Lucky Singh, wife of the well-known inmate Omkar Nath Singh (alias Sheru Singh)—a resident of Dullahpur village under the Industrial Police Station area of Buxar district—has written to the Chief Secretary of the Bihar Government, leveling serious allegations against the jail administration. Expressing concern over her husband's safety, she has pleaded for justice. Meanwhile, reports indicate that a total of 17 inmates, including Sheru Singh, are on a hunger strike to press for their demands.
In the application sent to the Chief Secretary, Lucky Singh alleged that her husband is currently lodged in the Shaheed Jubba Sahni Central Jail in Bhagalpur, where he is being continuously harassed by jail officials and staff. She stated that the family is neither permitted to communicate via video call nor is her husband being provided with adequate food and clean drinking water.
The application further alleges that Sheru Singh is being served rotten food and contaminated water and is housed in a dilapidated ward that could collapse at any moment. Lucky Singh expressed apprehension that these conditions pose a grave threat to her husband's health and life.
She also noted in the letter that, in addition to being a convict, her husband is an undertrial prisoner in several other cases, with hearings pending in various courts. Despite this, he is frequently neither produced physically in court nor presented via video conferencing.
Lucky Singh alleged that, given these circumstances, she fears the jail administration is conspiring to murder her husband. She has demanded that the Chief Secretary order a high-level inquiry into the matter, ensure Sheru Singh's safety, and investigate the condition of other inmates currently on a hunger strike.
However, there has been no official response from the jail administration regarding this matter. The veracity of the allegations can only be ascertained once the administration's side is known.
