PATNA--------------------------The Bihar Police Headquarters has adopted a strict stance regarding the alleged misconduct involving journalists. State DGP Vinay Kumar has ordered an inquiry against Manjit Thakur, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Naubatpur in Patna. In this regard, the Inspector General (IG) of Patna has been directed to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire matter and take necessary action.
According to reports, the incident is said to have occurred outside the office of City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh. It is alleged that the Naubatpur SHO verbally abused approximately a dozen journalists present at the scene and threatened to implicate them in false cases. The situation at the spot reportedly descended into chaos during the incident.
Following the incident, the City SP (West) had assured that an inquiry would be conducted and action taken; however, as no concrete steps were taken for two days, the matter began to escalate. Subsequently, under the banner of the Shramjeevi Patrakar Union, General Secretary Mukund Kumar Singh—along with Vice President Akash Kumar and other journalists—met with the DGP and submitted a written complaint.
Upon receiving the complaint, the DGP took the matter seriously and entrusted the responsibility of the inquiry to the Patna IG. Directives have been issued to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire sequence of events and to ensure strict action is taken against the concerned officer if found guilty.
Currently, the incident has become a subject of intense discussion within the police department. All eyes are now fixed on the IG's inquiry report and the subsequent action that will be taken.
