PATNA---------------------------A grave case of dowry death has come to light within the jurisdiction of the Khagaul Police Station in Patna. Following the death of the married woman, Aarti Sinha, and acting upon a complaint filed by her natal family, the police have registered a case of dowry death and, taking swift action, have arrested her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law.
The deceased's brother, Saurav Kumar, has alleged that Aarti's marriage took place in November 2025 in accordance with Hindu rituals. Although a substantial dowry—including cash and jewelry—was provided during the wedding, her in-laws continued to make persistent demands for additional dowry thereafter.
According to her family members, just a few days after the wedding, her husband (Pawan Prakash), father-in-law (Vimlesh Singh), brother-in-law (Dharmaprakash), and other in-laws began harassing Aarti over dowry-related issues. Prior to the Chhath festival, Aarti had called her family to inform them that her in-laws were demanding jewelry from her and were physically assaulting her whenever she resisted their demands.
It is alleged that on March 31, Aarti's in-laws informed her family that she had been admitted to a hospital. By the time her family members reached the hospital, she had already passed away. Her relatives have termed this incident a premeditated dowry murder.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Khagaul Police Station stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has commenced its investigation. The police have affirmed that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered.
