Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Visit Fire Tragedy Site After CM Yogi; Families of Victims to Receive Financial Aid

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of ex-gratia assistance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also announced financial compensation for the victims of the devastating fire at a coaching centre in Lucknow's Aliganj area. The Uttar Pradesh government will provide ₹5 lakh to the families of each deceased victim, while those injured in the incident will receive ₹50,000 as financial assistance, according to the Chief Minister's Office.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the injured victims at King George's Medical University (KGMU) and reviewed their treatment. The tragic fire, which broke out at an animation and coaching centre, has claimed at least 15 lives and left several others injured.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is also expected to visit the incident site to assess the situation and meet officials overseeing the rescue and relief efforts.

Amid growing public anger, several local residents alleged that the fire brigade reached the spot late, which they believe contributed to the scale of the tragedy. Authorities have not yet commented on these claims, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

KGMU Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Prem Raj Singh stated that 15 people were brought to the hospital dead, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. He added that seven to eight other individuals were admitted with injuries. Among them, one young man suffered a spinal injury, while a young woman sustained injuries to her leg. According to hospital officials, the majority of the deaths were caused by suffocation due to heavy smoke inhalation.

Rescue operations have concluded, while authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire and examine whether adequate fire safety measures were in place at the building.
