SASARAM-------------------------The body of 52-year-old Uday Paswan—who had gone missing after drowning in the Son River near Jalim Bigha in Dhelabad (under the Rohtas police station area)—was recovered on Thursday from Son Dila, within the Tilouthu police station area, approximately 24 hours later. Due to the strong current, the body had drifted several kilometers away. The recovery of the body ended the family's search and cast a pall of gloom over the entire village. According to reports, three youths and a woman who had arrived at Son Dila on Thursday morning for some work spotted the body floating in the river. Without delay, they retrieved the body with the help of locals and immediately informed the Tilouthu police.
Tilouthu Station House Officer (SHO) Shubham Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team and, following a preliminary investigation, informed the Rohtas police about the incident. Upon receiving the information... Police from the Rohtas station arrived at the scene, and the body was subsequently identified as that of 52-year-old Uday Paswan, son of the late Shiv Paswan and a resident of Dhelabad.
Family members stated that Uday Paswan was bringing his buffalo back home from the riverbank area of the Son River. While doing so, he lost his balance—having misjudged the river's depth and strong current—and was swept away by the rushing water. Following the incident, family members and villagers, assisted by local divers, conducted an extensive search until Wednesday evening but had to halt operations due to darkness. The search resumed on Thursday morning, and news arrived that the body had been found near the Son riverbank in Tilouthu.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the police sent the body to Sadar Hospital, Sasaram, for a post-mortem examination. Rohtas Station House Officer (SHO) Lalan Kumar stated that the body would be handed over to the family after the autopsy, and further legal action would be taken upon receipt of a formal application. This heart-wrenching incident has plunged the deceased's family into deep grief. Locals have urged people visiting the riverbanks to exercise extreme caution, given the rising water levels and strong currents of the Son River during the monsoon season.
