SASARAM-----------------------The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Nabinagar railway station in Aurangabad district remains consistently active, focusing on crime control as well as the safety and assistance of passengers. In a recent instance, the prompt action and humanitarian initiative of the RPF at Nabinagar led to the safe recovery of a 12-year-old girl who had become separated from her family on the platform; she was subsequently reunited with her relatives. The incident occurred on the night of October 16, 2026, at approximately 10:30 PM. According to reports, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jitendra Pratap Yadav, Head Constable Gyan Prakash, and Constable Santosh Kumar Mishra—all from the RPF Nabinagar post—were conducting routine patrols and surveillance within the station premises. During this time, RPF personnel noticed a young girl who appeared visibly distressed and anxious, repeatedly moving between platforms. The RPF personnel stopped her and began making inquiries. The girl identified herself as Karishma Kumari, aged approximately 12, daughter of Pappu Singh, and a resident of Lakri village (under the jurisdiction of Kochas Police Station, Rohtas district). She explained that she had come with her aunt and grandmother to visit the Mahua Dham shrine. At night, they had been sleeping at the far end of platform number two at Nabinagar railway station. Upon waking, she discovered that her aunt and grandmother were no longer there; frightened by their absence, she began searching for them throughout the station premises. It was then that the RPF personnel spotted her in a distressed state and learned the full situation. Given her young age and the fact that she was alone at the station at night, the RPF treated the matter with great seriousness. To prevent any untoward incident, they immediately brought her to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post at Nabinagar and placed her in a safe environment. Subsequently, using the information provided by the girl, the RPF contacted the Kochas Police Station to ensure her family could be notified as quickly as possible. Additionally, an announcement was made over the public address (PA) system at Dehri-on-Sone railway station to help locate her family. Information was also relayed to her home through a village watchman (chowkidar) in the Kochas area. Following these sustained efforts by the RPF, the girl's family was informed that she was safe at the Nabinagar railway station. On October 17, 2026, the girl's family arrived at the RPF post in Nabinagar. Upon the arrival of her family members, RPF personnel completed the necessary identification and verification procedures. Following this, a formal handover document was prepared in accordance with the prescribed rules. Assistant Sub-Inspector Shivshankar Yadav, stationed at the RPF Post in Nabinagar, oversaw the process—including the taking of photographs—and safely handed over the separated teenager, Karishma Kumari, to her uncle, Ramesh Chauhan, and aunt, Rita Devi. The family expressed their gratitude for the promptness and sensitivity shown by the RPF team in Nabinagar. This incident highlights that the Railway Protection Force’s role extends beyond mere crime control; the force remains ever-ready to ensure the safety of passengers—especially children—and provide them with necessary assistance. It was crucial that the RPF personnel identified the frightened, unaccompanied girl at the station during the night and brought her into their safe custody. Thanks to the RPF’s proactive response, the girl was safely reunited with her family, and any potential untoward incident was averted. Ultimately, due to the readiness, vigilance, and human sensitivity of the RPF Nabinagar unit, the 12-year-old girl, who had become separated from her family on the platform, was successfully reunited with her loved ones.
