ARA---------------------------Resentment is mounting among students at Mahant Mahadevanand Women's College, Ara—an institution affiliated with Veer Kunwar Singh University—after reports emerged that admission fees were being charged despite the Chancellor's directive to the contrary. The students question why fees are being demanded at the college level when higher authorities have already ordered relief regarding admission fees. Confusion prevails among students arriving for admission. They argue that directives issued by the university and the Raj Bhavan should be implemented uniformly across all affiliated colleges. Consequently, if any college is collecting fees in violation of the order, the matter should be investigated, and a clear account of the money collected from students should be made public. The students are so aggrieved by the situation that they have begun questioning the functioning of the college administration. They point out that the admission process places an additional financial burden on students hailing from economically weaker families. If a provision for a fee waiver has been made at the government or Chancellor level, female students should receive that benefit. It is worth noting that preparations were made to conduct the undergraduate admission process for the 2026-30 academic session at Veer Kunwar Singh University via the Samarth portal. Guidelines regarding the admission and fee payment processes for affiliated colleges have been issued previously. Meanwhile, the online system at MM Mahila College also offers options for paying admission fees for various semesters. The crucial question is: if the Chancellor's order pertains to waiving admission fees or granting concessions to female students, on what grounds is the college administration collecting money from them? Has the college received any separate instructions from the university administration? If so, this information should be made public. Students and parents are demanding that the Veer Kunwar Singh University administration take immediate cognizance of this matter and clarify exactly what amount is to be charged to female students and under which head. Furthermore, action should be taken to refund any amount collected in violation of the rules. All eyes are now on the administration of Veer Kunwar Singh University regarding this matter. The responsibility for complying with the Chancellor's directives lies with the university and the concerned colleges. According to official information from the Bihar Raj Bhavan, the Chancellor is empowered to issue directives in the administrative and academic interests of the universities, and the relevant university bodies are required to comply with them. In this context, if admission fees are indeed being charged at the Women's College in Ara in violation of the Chancellor's orders, it raises serious administrative questions. The female students have demanded that the university administration conduct an impartial inquiry and clarify the situation. However, the full picture will only become clear once the college administration provides an official explanation or discloses the basis for charging the fees.
